i have two symfonisk sonos speakers and i see them under players on jriver. when i try to send music to either of them i get this message, there was a problem controlling the selected dlna device. double check your device, server, and network settings. i used these a while ago and had no problem not sure what the issue is now.

update just downloaded a mp3 to the pc and it is fine. i am using jriver connected to a jriver server that is on a different network. but if i can play the music on the pc and see the two sonos players under player why would it not play the music from the library server. im going to see if it has anything to do with firewall

How old is the Sonos equipment?  Post the model numbers if you can.

It could be related to these recent Sonos problems:   https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/08/app-redesign-blowback-will-cost-sonos-up-to-30-million-ceo-says/

this is the model. i also have two of these on the network the server resides on, i will try to play them from their to see if i get same issue. if not then it has to be network related. i downloaded a file from the server to the pc on the network the 2 in question are on and it played the file which was on c drive.

okay so file that is on jriver server and sonos that is on that same network played no problem.

the issue seems to be playing the music from the server to the sonos speaker... any idea what to check?

Have you tried rebooting everything?

i will try that now, when i setup my jriver media server i set it to import from my nas using unc \\ip\share so now i added my drives to the client pc via unc.bat so the client can play the files on the client rather than get a stream from the server. i think that may improve other things, but as of right now still not working with sonos. let me restart both server and client pcs and see what happens. is there a way to tell that the file is playing on the client pc from the unc path rather than getting stream from server?? i have the option checked off.

i did, but i tested the same speaker that is located in same network on the jriver server and it worked... so i am leaning more towards it being something network related... how does music get sent to these speakers via dlna?

just a heads up i sent a file local on my pc to one of the speakers via w10 dlna and no problem. so it has to do with jriver and most likely my network. if jriver can see both players and ips under players then any idea what has to be done maybe additional port forwards in firewall? i disabled windows firewall and that did not work...running out of ideas lol
