Have to reboot after exit MC 105
« on: February 02, 2003, 04:33:11 am »

Hi
This is my first contact with Interact.
I have installed and played around with MC 105. No problems so far, but this: If I exit MC and try to run it again I have to reboot my pc before I can use it??!!
Any idea?

i know if your using Windows XP you can use

CTRL, Alt And Delete you can see if there is another Media Center Running (you can't see on the desk top) and if so you can terminate it.

after that loading Media Center should work

Hi
Nice and fast answer.
Yes it's XP. When I use Ctrl, Alt and Delete I find no "Program" Media Center but a "Process". Do You mean that should terminate this process?, which is Media Jukebox.exe
I get a warning that something awful could happend, but ...

yes "Media Jukebox.exe" just terminate it

J river needs to change that it should Say Media Center But it still tells you it is Media Jukebox.

>>I get a warning that something awful could happend
everything will be fine.

that message is correct if it has something to do with Windows. like if you Attempt to delete "Explorer" windows will basicly close.

Hi again
Strange. I did it again and now it works, that is I can run Media Center from desktop.
Do You know why this happend? Could it be something wrong with MC?

maybe you had more that one "Process" running

>> Do You know why this happend?
A Few Reasons

>> Could it be something wrong with MC?
Maybe

Reasons (Maybe)

1. You Are trying to DBL click on a Icon that requires only one click and Windows will start two of them up becuae it looks and see's nothing running so it runs them both.

2. sometimes a program will crash that your running and windows will blank out, all desktop icons will vaniash for a second or two, and then when it comes back your Media Jukebox program that was running looks like it is not now since you see no program running on the desktop. when you attempt to run MJ\MC it see's MJ\MC running and will not allow you to open another "Process" of something that windows is telling you is already running

this happens to other programs also so i tend to beleave it is a windows problem.

"C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center\Media Jukebox.exe"

I have also found up to 3 instances of mediajukebox.exe in my proceses list.

I've not noticed it since I began checking for it regularly, but as soon as I reproduce it, I'll report back. [might have been rightclicking on an image and selecting "show" from r-click while tunes were playing.

btw,
In most default windows xp setups, the quicklaunch is not displayed. JimH was asking if the MC icon was present in the system tray (lower right). If the quicklaunch is displayed, it's normally at the left end of the taskbar, and yes, you can, if you prefer, drag and drop shortcuts from the desktop to the quicklaunch area.

I've seen windows do the same with IE -- multiple instances in memory after a problem with IE.
