I installed the same version of MC33-030 on my old Mac-Book Air 2018 with intel processor-works perfectly
2. I have a new email: h****n@gmail.com  but I'm not able to modify it in my account.
When I put my current password, I get an error messsage in red: there is already another user with the same name

Please help

We need the entire crash report with backtrace.
When it happens in MacOS you should get a crash report dialog. You can do "report" then copy/past from the report into textedit. Save that out and attach it here.
Thanks.

You had already created another account with the email. I deleted that and set this account to the new email address.

If you haven't added anything to the MC33 library, you could delete it's user data folder and re-run MC33.
It will then start with new settings and copy over your MC32 library again (you'll need to re-enter the MC33 license).

If you do this, do NOT INTERRUPT it upon first start. It can take some time to move and update the library especially if it's large.

To do so, remove the folder under your user account:
Library/Application Support/J River/Media Center 33
You can get at this folder (hidden by default) by any of the methods detailed here:
https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-Access-Hidden-User-Library-folder-on-Mac-OS.html

Hi Bob ,

I followed your  instructions, they are very clear BTW.
1. I opened the hiden folder in MC33 using the link autodesk.

2. I deleted the Library folder. In the attached screen shot the Library folder is not deleted since I reinstalled the MC 33 in order to show you what folder I deleted. Thus the MC33 doesnt work even without the library folder . Should I delete something else, I'm not seeing the User Data folder that you mentioned. What could I do from my own, or maybe I should wait for another update.

3. I restarted the MC33 but the problem persist

please tell me what to do if u see some solution.

Thank you

Hi Bob

I don't see any user data folder under the MC33 library. You said:(If you haven't added anything to the MC33 library, you could delete it's user data folder and re-run MC33.
It will then start with new settings and copy over your MC32 library again (you'll need to re-enter the MC33 license).)
I'm attaching a screenshot after I have unhided  all folders.

You need to delete the Media Center 33 folder which will delete everything under it. It's not just the library, it's the settings, data, etc.
To do so, remove the folder under your user account:
Library/Application Support/J River/Media Center 33

Ok thanks for trying that.
Is this a standalone MC or a client of a library server?

I've also had trouble running 33 on Sierra. I had previously posted about my problems but can't find that post, so I apologize for the duplication. I  Probably posted in the wrong place. Sorry. I'm afraid I don't understand the Media Center well enough to be helped, but I'll give it one more try.

I am trying to run MC 33 on a Macbook M1, and just get beach balls. I done all the OS stuff, including reinstalling sierra 5.1. I suspect the problem might be network access. I have never noticed MC requesting network access, but guess it did and I missed the boat because MC is not listed as an OS setting option in all access.

A little more background on my experience with MC. I've run it for years with few problems until now. I am currently running MC 33 on an intel Mac mini as a library server running Mac Senoma 14.7. That's still working OK. Before I (accidentally) upgraded my MacBook to 15.1, I was running MC 29 and using it to access the server. Now I can't get MC 33 to run on my MacBook. My MacBook is set to allow software from any source to run, so that's not the problem. MC also has full disk access permissions. Network access is the only permission not allowed, asfak. Sorry if I am not doing everything right on the forum. Hope for some tolerance and patience.  I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you.

WhenI look at PRIVACY AND SECURITY > LOCAL NETWORK, only see apps that were already installed and had Local Network access before I upgraded to Sequoia 15.1. If Media Center 33 every asked for permission (I don't find Media Center 33 in Notifications settings), I did not notice that request, and I do not know how to add it manually now. Thanks for explaining how to!

Yes, I found many posts about other applications broken by this security feature in  Sequoia 15.1, but no solutions. Many report intermittent internet connection Sequoia, which is sometimes fixed bu turning off firewall This did not help me. For example, Apple Community post: "From what I can tell, these new OS releases interfere broadly with a number of applications, as well—in my case—my eero router. I can't use Proton VPN or Tailscale without losing connectivity completely." Most posts mention breaking security apps, but others, too. See Developer Forums for attempts to understand these problems.

Most are able to run MC 33 on OS Sequoia without problems, so this must be my odd problem. Hope someone can help troubleshoot. Other than Local Network, other security settings are permissive -- I allow MC full file and folder access and every other permission I can find. Don't know why only my Macbook M1 fails to run MC 33. I'd appreciate suggestions. I know MC  does not have Local Network permissions, but I haven't been able to fix that If I could, my problems might be over.

What I've tried so far: I reinstalled Sequoia 15.1, and MC 33 and disconnected accessories. My setup had been a little complicated, with a thunderbolt dock connected to an external ssd and an external dell monitor so I simplified. I disconnected everything and restarted the bare Macbook M1. But MC 33 behaved no differently for me -- when I try to run it, I see the spinning Beach Ball for up to 5-10 minutes then application stops responding. Any ideas?

   Accessibility
   Input Monitoring

Yes, that's correct but I think OP's problem is that MC doesn't appear in the Local Network tab and there is no overt way of adding it. I see it in mine but I certainly didn't add it deliberately.

Thank you both, Magic_Randy and HaWi, for suggestions. I double-checked Magic_Randy's list and confirmed these settings. HaWi is also correct,  MC doesn't appear in the Local Network tab and there is no overt way of adding it, afaik. Also I do not see MC in notifications, and I can't confirm I was notified of any request for  local access, which seems to be the core problem. I've done lots of Googling and found no way to solve this with network access, Seems to be a special feature (bug) of Sequoia to prevent users to allow some programs to work. Thanks, Apple. Anyone have suggestions for fixing that?

This may not help, but I did a Google search and it replied:

To "force" a request to add an app to the Privacy & Security settings for Local Network on macOS Sequoia 15.1, open the app while connected to your local network, which should prompt a system notification asking for permission to access your local network; then, navigate to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network to explicitly grant access to the app; if no prompt appears, you may need to check the app's settings or contact the developer for further instructions.

Key points:
Trigger the prompt: Launch the app you want to add to Local Network access while connected to your network.

Access settings: If a prompt appears, click "OK" to allow access.

Manual access: If no prompt appears, go to Apple menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network and toggle the app to "On".

Thanks, appreciate suggestions but these do not work. No notification means it will NOT appear as an option in local network access. Wonder if any terminal command could add it. I've searched but not found anything useful yet.

Maybe Bob can weigh in. He may be aware of how to trigger the prompt.  My guess is that Bob's code does not trigger it, it is just handled by the OS, but he would know if the code is involved.

I would try  to once again remove MC33, both application and complete MC33 folder in user area.
Then install MC32 and see if it works.
Then download MC33 and install it patiently, accepting all prompts .
Good luck.

PS on my first install of MC33 it did not get all the settings from MC32. I had to remove  totally MC33 and reinstall it from scratch. With success.

If that doesn't work it may be worth taking the M1 to a Mac Specialist because I'm beginning to wonder if Sequoia for the Mac, like the iOS version, has Corrupted parts of the OS on your pc.

Thanks, Bob, but sorry to report the app's behavior is unchanged. I also checked and noticed that MC does not appear among app options in notifications. I saw no notifications when I tried to run your app the first time, saw spinning beach ball until I forced quit, It still is unlisted in local network list of apps.

If you never get past the beach ball you won't get to the point of asking for network access.

I've finally managed to open and run (sort of…) a version, MC 31, that actually has local network access. However it says I don't have a registered license and to DL my licensed version (33), which will not run. I assumed when I paid for an upgrade from 27 to 33 it would include all other later versions (for now). Guess not. Can anyone explain? Thanks.

If you have a MC33 license it only works with MC33. It won't work with previous versions of MC. Each version is basically its own self-contained thing.

Looks like I can't even purchase MC 31?! That seem pretty strange, since it works for me, when 33 does not!?
I already have a license for MC 27, which seems to be working on my M1 Macbook running Mac OS 15.1, for now, although I haven't yet actually listened to anything yet, so can't be sure until I do. Don't know why I every paid for the upgrade to MC 33, which I've never been able to even open on my Macbook. M1, but still might me worth something on my Intel Mac Mini which runs the server.

I might be to old for this ?. Close to giving up on using MC on my Macbook :'(

You can't purchase older versions of MC, only the latest version available (which right now is MC33) is able to be purchased.

I would recommend waiting it out and letting Bob work his magic and see if it can be fixed in MC33.
