I had to RESET my PC due to some corruption and have reloaded MC 29 with advice from JH (appreciate it!).  The library began repopulating from the Cloud without any prompting and it is markedly incomplete.  Many of my CDs were lost as was most of the metadata.  I've got a screen 80% filled with check marks instead of album covers.

How do I reestablish (restore?) my library? Once that is completed successfully, I intend to upgrade to MC 33.

Media Center does automatic library backups... however, if none of them were backed up to the cloud and restored (or you had a library backup stored somewhere else like another drive) I'm afraid you'd have to start over from scratch.

I would highly recommend not to keep media (music, video, images, etc.) on the same drive Windows is installed on. It's recommended to keep it on a secondary drive (external hard drive, NAS, etc.) and to use that. By doing that if you have to reinstall Windows for whatever reason you don't lose your media in the process as it really, really sucks having to start all over again.

Hover your mouse over one of the problem files.  You'll see where MC believes it is.  Search for it in Explorer.  Is it there?

If not, read Moving Files on the wiki.  There are tools you can use to move files and to make other changes.

Thank you for your guidance.  Having the library on an accessory drive is a great idea...too late for me. 
Overnight, all the CDs populated so I have not lost any music.  however, the metadata transfer is a disaster.  When I hover of a blue note, all it says is play and I cannot find any other information of any sort.  For many files, I doubt that I will have enough information to hunt for a replacement jacket on the web, assuming they are available.  I am not much motivated to do that or upgrade right now.   

About 70-80% of the covers did not load.  Blue notes fill the screen.  I must say this outcome was unexpected and it's a bit discouraging. Well, at least it's not a tornado passing through!
