Mac MC client accessing Windows-based server?
« on: December 16, 2024, 05:55:44 pm »

Hello,

I've only ever had MC installed on a Windows host.  With all of the good reviews everywhere regarding the new M4-based Mac mini, though, I thought I would pick one up.

Are there any known issues or hiccups with using MC running (natively) on the Mac accessing a Windows JMRC server over the media network?  (I'll have to upgrade my license, of course.)  I just thought it worth checking before embarking on this exercise.

Thanks,
  Matt

Matt - hopefully the only hiccup you will encounter is the stupid place Apple have moved the Power On/Off button to. It's in the back left corner of the underside of the M4 Mini; but thankfully it is easy to overcome by sitting the Mini on something that will lift it up enough to be able to press it without having to lift the Mini up.
If you do purchase an M4 Mini don't get tempted to purchase an Apple Magic Mouse, the plugin point for the recharge cable is on the underside which of course means the thing becomes unusable when it needs recharging.

You're just holding it wrong.

Cute fix for the power button snafu:

Or under-desk mount:

Thanks for the replies!

The under-desk mounting solution looks nifty (and not just for the power button access).
