Author Topic: Library Tool - Rename without move - FLAC says “File not supported"  (Read 82 times)

Pretty much what the title says. I moved to a new drive and when I go to use the library tool to rename without move (I’m changing from USBShare to USBShare1 in the volume name) I noticed that FLAC files, where the only commonality I can see is that they have parentheses somewhere inside the name - either the directory they are in or in the filename itself, It says “<file not supported>” - I don’t believe this was an issue previously. I had bumped up to 33.0.53, so I thought maybe since it was in beta there was an issue - so I went back down to .44 and same issue. This was not previously an issue because I’ve had these files for quite some time. When I manually go to the directory and remove all parens, and then manually go into MC and change the path on each file, they start working.

Any thoughts? There are a LOT of these files, so it wouldn’t be practical to manually take the parens out of all of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

One possible reason is if the tracks have a playback range set. This happens when they're imported from a CUE file.

Upon further digging, it appears that what’s happening is that the new files ARE being added to the library - but the old files are still there. Once I manually delete the old files, things start working again. I double-checked and I don’t have it set to protect missing drives or anything like that - any thoughts on why MC isn’t cleaning up the files that no longer exist?

Well, guess we will call this “solved” - no idea what was going on. I rebooted the server, reopened MC, reran the autoimport and like magic - all is right with the world. Spot checked several of the files that were wonky previously and they are all fine. Weird… something on my end I guess.

Went back to .53 because it has been so stable as far as no longer hanging.

Thank you!
