I've been working for 2 days trying to configure audio in my 2  "Servers" (full JRiver MC installed, with approx 12 large capacity hard drive with all CDs, SACDs, Bluerays, DVDs and various media files installed) with no success yet. The main server was directly connected to a Denon AVR which in turn was connected to a large LG OLED in the living room.

Before you ask "Why not upgrade to v33", let me save you some time. I'm a long-time user of JRiver MC, currently using 24.0.78 (64-bit) on 2 servers (main and protection backup) plus 4 small ITX computers, each one in a different room so I have full access to everything, everywhere, all at once. This system's main Server ha been running continuously since MC20 and did everything I ever needed, and the 2nd Server & 4 satellite stations went on line shortly after. I saw no real need to upgrade HOWEVER, I was so impressed with what the JRiver people were doing with their product that I continued buying Master Licenses of every new version that came out including 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 and 33 just to support JRiver.

CAUTION: DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH UNLESS IT POPS INTO YOUR MIND THAT YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY I DIDN'T UPGRADE TO A LATER VERSION, OR WANT TO KNOW WHY I DIDN'T JUST UPGRADE jRIVER TO A LATER VERSION:
Everything went well for years until a version of MC came out that my hardware didn't support, and I would have to buy 6 new motherboards, 6 new CPU's, 6 more sets of memory chips, and 6 copies of Windows 10, and possibly other hardware would need to be updated, and it became prohibitively expensive to do all of that. And when JRiver decided that going forward, their cost for users sharing media libraries from a server by a local computer was too much and they were going to limit that feature to those who were running a version of JRiver that would require me to buy all new hardware and OS software; I understand why they did it but their metric for who qualified wasn't nuanced enough to include me, who had been buying Master Licenses of practically every new version of MC since it's incepiton and paying as much if not more than others that continued to have the capability to share another one of their JRiver computers' libraries. I'm not bitching about it, they did what they had to do, but the metric they used wasn't user friendly to me even though I was paying as much as everyone else that continued to do library sharing.

So, enough about that, and now I shouldn't have any questions to answer about 'why don't you update your JRiver MC to a newer version' questions..... moving on.

THE 'MEAT' OF THIS POST:
Fast forward to the present.
To compensate for my loss of connecting my computers located in different rooms to my jRIVER servers I bought a crosspoint HDMI switch and ran fiber HDMI cables between every room that has a TV and one of the servers to check that there was video and audio at the corresponding TV and each of my 2 Servers. Everything worked beautifully and I watched all of the TVs to be certain there were no hiccups... there weren't.

Next, I ran fiber optic cable from each audio device (2 servers, Oppo BDP 203, Apple TV, Roku Ultra 4850X, 2 JRiver Media Center 'servers', Verizon STB)... all passed thru unmolested EXCEPT the JRiver Media Center 'servers'... This was not unexpected, as both servers had their audio configured to go to the inputs of a Denon AVR-X7200WA (this AVR is currently not in use because a power surge knocked it off-line (it's likely that it's a fuse on the circuit board, but I haven't had the time to label all of the speaker wires and disconnect all 13 of the speakers and it may be some time before I do that.

Over the past 3 days I downloaded all the info I could find about configuring the audio outputs on the JRiver servers and spent most of yesterday trying to get the configuration right, but haven't been able to get the right settings to get any audio output from either JRiver server.

The HDMI matrix switch covers a lot of different audio formats, and it clearly is working correctly for passing the Oppo BDP 203, the Apple TV, the ROKU Ultra and the Verizon STB on any combination of Inputs to Outputs that I tried so it has to be a problem with how my JRiver audio outputs are configured.

ANY IDEAS OF WHAT SETTINGS TO TROUBLESHOOT FOR HOW TO SET UP THE jRIVER Audio Outputs WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.THE HDMI SWITCH INS/OUTS ARE CAPABLE OF: LPCM, Dolby Digital/Plus/EX, Dolby True HD, Dolby Atmos, DTS, DTS-EX, DTS-96/24, DTS High Res, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DSD. As mentioned above audio over HDMI from Apple TV and other sources passes through the HDMI matris switch to 4 LG TVs without issue.

Try posting again with a simplified question.  Complexity is your enemy.

JRiver Media Center has never made a change that required new hardware.  Windows 11 did.
