Spotify and/or Tidal Integration
« on: February 16, 2025, 08:38:28 am »

Wow - was looking for some posts on this subject. Maybe it's me I don't see much

- can we integrate the applications in JR?
- I do use Tune My Music https://www.tunemymusic.com/plans to move playlists but my JR Playlists (2,167 of them) are my gold

Thanks

Next time try doing a search of the forums or use Google with "jriver tidal" or something similar, as it's been asked multiple times over the years. Basically, there's no support for any of them and as far as I know from what I saw Jim say previously there's no plans for JRiver to support them either.

They do have their own little thing called Cloudplay, might be worth checking out. :)

This request has been made multiple times , JimH belies that streaming services are not viable and hence will not waste time and effort programming something which he believes will not last.

I for one have been a Tidal user for 7 yrs and it's showing no signs of going away. That said it is often stated that the services , Spotify, Tidal et al run at a loss. I doubt the same could be said for Apple and Amazon.

In this day and age it's a sad omission from an otherwise brilliant piece of software. (user for the last 12 yrs)

alas

JRiver
Have you tried Cloudplay recently?
7254 playlists  624369 tracks

We added Amazon Music a year ago.

We also did several music service integrations before Tidal.  MTV, Best Buy, Televisa, etc.

We try to do work that is profitable and has a future.

Tidal
We did a Tidal integration almost ten years ago, and Tidal wanted to control the GUI in MC, so we walked away from it.

Tidal claims 100 million tracks, but the 624,369 above for Cloudplay represent what our users actually listen to.

Block confirms: ‘We are scaling back our investment in Tidal’

Block wrote off $132 million of its $232 million Tidal purchase price.  They are admitting that they paid too much.

Spotify
Spotify is a public company.  It's now making money:  https://www.google.com/finance/quote/SPOT:NYSE
