Blue Screens Galore!
« on: December 22, 2002, 08:36:05 am »

Can Anyone please help?
Since last week I have been using MJ  PLUS 8.0.393, and have reg'd. it.

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.393
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Pentium III 796 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 522 MB, Free - 381 MB
Resource Info: System - 65 %, GDI - 84 %, User - 65 %
OS: Microsoft Windows 98 SE

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2800.1106
ComCtl32.dll: 5.50.4916.400
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shell32.dll: 4.72.3812.600
wnaspi32.dll: 4.55 (996) , ASPI for Win32 (95/NT) DLL, Copyright © 1989-1997 Adaptec, Inc.
Aspi32.sys: N/A

It used to just balk when using YADB. Now it blue screens and crashes a few times. When I finally get the info, ripping the disk causes MORE blue srcreens and crashing.

I have reinstalled 3 times.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks!! :-/

See if you can isolate where the problem is.  It's probably in the detection of the drive itself.  You could confirm that by turning off the CD lookup at YADB and by ripping to raw wav.

The settings for the CD may not be getting detected correctly.  Try changing from digital to analog or vice versa.

There is a FAQ here that has info on ripping.  Under Help above.

If your problem is still there...

MJ on W98 is VERY reliant on external ASPI...go to the Adaptec site and download latest (4.71.2). May help.

Success! (and failure...)

MJ and YADB functioned just fine yesterday after minor tweaking in  MJ's 'Settings' control panel.  Actually d/l'd cd info and ripped ogg files without a blue screen. (waaaay cool, I know!)

Today it's back to its' old tricks.

Maybe I am a subject in a stress test that some demented professor is conducting...

I had planned on getting a new computer in the spring, so I'll just live with it for now.

Thanks for your replies. If I learn anything I'll post.
