Imperfections while digitizing
« on: October 06, 2003, 04:45:50 pm »

I'm trying to digitize tapes and LPs.  I've tried both WAV and 256 Kbps MP3 as target formats in MJ8.  In all cases, there are noticeable imperfections in the digital result - small fraction-of-a-second snippets of slurred or missing music, which make the digital version a poor copy of the original.

I'm connecting a cable from the headphone jack of the receiver, through a converter, into the PC's sound card.  I also tried using Tape Out on the receiver and going into the sound card, but MJ didn't pick up any sound using that method.

Any suggestions on how to avoid the imperfections in the digital result?

The preferred method is from Tape Out of the amp to Line In on the soundcard. If your not getting any signal in MJ then check your mixer settings (right click on the speaker icon in the system tray...select Open Volume Controls). Make sure that Line In isn't muted or the slider is set to zero.
