DSP has great options that make a huge difference in playback quality.  Once the "audio analysis" has been performed it has a greater impact.  
The issue I have seen while burning with DSP enabled is the gain can not be calculated correctly.  I typically get a total increase in gain of ~ 9.8db.    The result is a CD with the gain so high it can not be played any higher than AM radio volume with a quality rivalling the old radio band.  
Seen it?  Me, settings, s/w?

You can lower the playback gain in the DSP studio with the arrows.

Sorry for the slow response.
Yes,  the gain can be lowered manully.  If this is the intent of JRiver why have an option while recording  an audio CD of Replay gain, Adjustment, "Automatic Based on current playlist".   A statement is also included "By analyzing your music, Replay Gain can make all of your songs sound the same volume".  It can, the problem is they are so saturated by the increasees from the automatic gain adjustment you can't tell if it is white noise from the radio or music.
It seems like a problem with MC 9.1

Are you sure there are no other DSP's in effect, such as the equalizer?
