James Taylor - Not in YADB
« on: January 07, 2004, 05:07:17 pm »

I have been away, so I missed a bunch of stuff on YADB, and can't find the help I need in a search.

How could James Taylor Greatest Hits not be in the DB? (no smart ass answers please)

I thought we were going to get a web screen to look at what was in the db?

How do I submit it if it is not in the DB?

Thats All I Have, But

I have that CD, and it is there since i just put the CD in and, did a YADB search.

This Is Using MC 10.0.27

as a matter of fact there is two of them

maybe you should state the version of MC your using, and or Right click on the CD, use "Update from database", and do another search.

King,
Any answer from you, whether a smart ass one or not, is going to help.  Yes, you are correct, there are two of them, and that brings up the question of how to determin which is the best one?  Is their a way to view the data before accepting one of them?

Plus, it is amazing what you find under that darn right click button.  Sorry for asking stupid questions.

Oh yeah, and your right, where the heck was my program version et. al.?

Maybe I will get back into the swing of this yet!

Thanks for the help!

In MC 10.0.27+

a menu comes up and shows you a list, you can then select the other ones in the list, and the songs on the album are in another window so you can see what is on the cd prior to selecting.

They did not anounce this (i think) and i was shocked when it pulled up a list. this current way is way cool and what many have been asking for since YADB came out.

In this case there is no dif in the CD other than in the CD Name (James Taylor) is there.

One of them should be deleted.

King,
I actually have run into this several times, as I am re-ripping my entire collection at a higher rate.

One last question:  When I put in a CD, the box comes up with the three radio buttons.  I choose the one to rip.  It goes to the DB and gets two copies of each song.  If I click on another drive then back, the second set of (the duplicates) dissapear.  Would this be a bug, or am I doing something wrong.

Once again thanks for your help.

I think this all may depend on the version your using

and yes it may be a bug, the problem is reporting bugs in old versions due little good. so if your using the most current version Of MC10 and this is a problem then report it in the Bug thread for the same version.

MC10.0.30 is current

When I put in a CD, the box comes up with the three radio buttons.  I choose the one to rip.  It goes to the DB and gets two copies of each song.  If I click on another drive then back, the second set of (the duplicates) dissapear.

I've seen this behavior (each track is duplicated, but if you go to another view and come back it's fine) over many versions, including 10.x.  I don't know the exact circumstances when it happens, but generally there's something funny going on before it with the YADB lookup.  I'll try to pay attention next time it happens so I can report the circumstances.  It's really hard to come up with a reproducible case, though, since once MC has looked a CD up in YADB, it won't do it again (without doing the "Update from CD database" command).
