Media Server
« on: January 12, 2004, 11:41:36 am »

Hi

Please please - would love some help from anyone in the know ...

Am trying to run Media Server.  I can launch it fine on my server pc, but when I try and connect my laptop to it I get the error message 'Failed to install package C:\documents\...temp282B.tmp', and then followed by a message saying 'Failed to download library'.

I am running Windows 2000 on both computers, and MJ 8.0.400 on both.

Thanks !

Buellie

Thanks VERY much ... all sorted now - it was indeed my firewall (Zone Alarm).

Now - one final last question as you are obviously familiar with music networking - when I listen to music over my wireless (802.11b) network I experience slight repetitive distortions to the sound.  It's bearable, but not nearly as 'clean' as listening to music that is straight off the laptop's hard drive.  Do you think this would be eliminated if I upgraded to the faster 802.11g standard ?  Is it some sort of latency issue ?

Thanks again for your earlier reply - I appreciate it ....

What bitrate music are you playing? Try a lower bitrate file and see if it has less distortion, if so, then an upgrade would help.
