100% CPU Load as USer (XP Pro)
« on: January 18, 2004, 04:41:04 am »

Hi
Just noticed a cont. 100% CPU Load when running MC (9.136) as User on a XP Pro Machine (3.2 GHz) 13000 Files
If I run it with "Run as ... Administrator" CPU stays at < 10% even when playing MP3's.
Any idea on this ...

never noticed, because always ran with Admin prevs. before
Nice Weekend

Because when your logged in as just a user member (rather than administrator), MC is furiously trying to write to the registry...and failing. Take a look at your application/system event logs via Event Viewer and you should see some related errors there. There was a recent post (last 2 months) on this.

Correct...

Minimum level of group membership is Power Users. Even with PU, you need to install this...

Well, that solved a lot of problems for me.

Anymore undocumented little goodies like that?
