Streaming to two clients simultaneously?
« on: January 21, 2004, 12:11:17 pm »

Hi all

My home setup has a server and two clients. All are in different rooms, are networked together, and share a cable internet connection. Is it possible for the MC to grab an internet radio stream, and then to serve that to the two client PCs ?

If I get each of the two clients to connect to the internet stream independently then it's impossible to keep the audio in sync between the two (annoying when I'm wandering around the house).

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Great question -- both for internet streaming or even for local song playback.

I think this is an enhancement request -- a toggle switch to stream independently to each client vs. the ability to join an already in progress stream.  It would seem that on the client side you would need an option to say "join stream in progress" and on the server side it would need to be able to handle that request and multi-cast to both IP addresses like a ShoutCast.

Personally I like it and would find it useful.
