why not combining YADB and freeDB?
« on: February 06, 2004, 01:25:55 am »

Ok,

Sometimes I use winamp 5 to rip CDs _ONLY_ because CDDB is superior to YADB. I wonder if the combo YADB - freeDB would outperform CDDB... probably not, but of course it would return more hits.

However, the search time for YADB is plain ridiculous, if there is no match it might leave your system frozen (no ripping) for seconds. Adding more search time (freeDB) would be a killer. I think a better solution should be found. What do you think?

YADB Started With FreeDB's Complete Database.

But you may not have known that.

that requires a license with them, I don't think J river want's to do that that was one of the reasons they droped CDDB

Yes, I agree!
Personally I think the connection with YADB should be very high on the To-Do list of JRiver. Not only for version 10 but also for 9 version.

I finally ripped almost all my CD's so the stress for me is very little now. And I will not complain any more about the bad YADB communication.  :-X
