operating real slow after media import
« on: March 01, 2004, 10:10:44 am »

I recently imported approximately 5000 mp3 files into MC9.  I am using music lobby along with MC9 also.  What I am finding is that the problem is localized to MC9.

So here is the problem.  CPU usage has sky rocketed.  The system Locks up.  More like it freeze frames, or stalls out.  Although when I open these same files using Music Match the system runs perfectly fine.  On that note I dont feel that it is a problem with the files them selves.

My general feeling is that it may be due to tagging problems or something.  I am new to the program and simply need a sense of direction to correct this problem.   All of the files are mp3 @ 192 compression.   HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What version of MC9 do you have?
Do all of those files have cover art, Bios and Lyrics?

What are you doing when it stalls -- playing, tagging, etc.?

Try using MC without Music Lobby to see if there's some problem with their communication.

Otherwise, you could try creating a new library and importing files in batches to isolate it.

MC should be very fast with 100,000 or more files.

at this point i have been doing nothing but opening up media center.  No tagging , playing music , nothing.

I simply went into it and was going to browse to make sure that everything imported.  which it did.  all music has been stored in the my music folder of xp.  could that be the cause?
