Where is my album art?

Where is my Album Art?

I just installed this version and I have no album art.

About two or three builds ago I had album art.

I didn't change anything in any of the files on my disk and I didn't edit any tag information. I simply reformatted my raid array -- I have my music on a seperate disk from the raid array.

My images are supposed to be stored in the file so I won't lose them.

Like I said, I have reformatted many times and used many versions of this program but this version does not display any album cover art.

Any infor would help. It looks like a bug but I am not sure.

Take a look at options/file locations.  You can set the location there.

No way.

I have always used Media Center with the default settings. Even when I moved my music files, MP3, I always had the images kept inside the files.

Everything was working up until the most recent build 103.

I went back to the 100 build but now it is all messed up.

Songs, like Creed, always had the album art but now it has some other album art that I had in some other file.

It looks like the art got scrambled all over the place.

HELP.

I think the default settings for cover art is external art.

Is it possible when ripping a CD for the cover art to automatically be stored in the same location as where the tracks are stored?

Thanks!

this would be a really great feature.  similar to how microsoft media player works.
i like it.  the only thing would be that your library if it had many songs would be huge.
maybe it might be a hit in performance.  still a good idea for coming versions.

I also echo the strong desire for an option to save album art with tracks...

As MC reads album art from the location I dont understand why it wont write it there... Much more cross compatible than a single art folder.

The artwork should be saved as "Folder.jpg" in the album folder AND "artist - album.jpg" in the CD Covers folder.

You can use my Cover Art Plug-In It Does This.

Just turn On The "Folder.jpg" option

I have also noticed the original issue the poster was asking about.

Once in a while, I find that mp3 files I know had album art (stored within file) now no longer has that art.

The way I have dealt with it over time is to just re-download the art into the file, as it only happens once in a while and on very few files (that I noticed).

I have started setting my mp3 file directory to read only for this purpose, and enable write temporarily only when I need to make changes.

This has happened throughout versions 9, 9.1 and I believe I've seen it with version 10, but I'm not positive yet.

Regards,
Kwake

The artwork should be saved as "Folder.jpg" in the album folder AND "artist - album.jpg" in the CD Covers folder.
Why?  Makes more sense to let the user decide what to name it (like most tagging programs).  Mine are "cover.jpg" since, well, they are covers.  Other audio applicacions pick them right up...

Also, some people (and application) don't like having space in filenames...instead of your "artist - album.jpg" they might prefer "artistAlbum.jpg" or "artist-album.jpg" or "artist_album.jpg".  Best to make it configurable.

--Thomas

Yeah, what I meant to say was that the album art should have the option of being saved in two locations at once, and each with customizable naming schemes.
