Not tonight.

We're working to get side-by-side installs functioning.  We're also making the changes to make MC work with guest / user priveleges.

We hope to have a build for this weekend.  Expect things to be bumpy for the first few builds after these changes.

Looking forward to the great things to come, Matt!

Do you also make preparations for language localization?

Ooh great. I've been restricted in trying out the 11 versions so far due to the DB changes and restricted time with a second machine.

Looking forward to whatever comes, whenever! :-)

Language localization is on the list, but we don't know if it'll be in version 11 or not.  Assuming we can get some help from Interact folks, it may turn out to be a little easier than we originally thought due to some other technologies MC is built atop.  One step at a time though.

As for the next alpha, there'll be another build of MC 11 on Thursday or Friday.  You'll lose your settings since everything moved in the registry.  Some plugins and possibly other things won't work right away.  It won't run side-by-side with MC 10 yet.

It'll take a week or so to clean up there and make everything work again.

Then, if things go well, we'll make updated MC 10 and MC 11 builds that can run side-by-side with each other.  This isn't earth shattering in and of itself, but it will give us more flexibility in offering future alphas or other products built with Media Center's technology.

Guest / user priveleges?

What does this mean? Does this mean no-longer having to be an administrator or power user on a WinXP machine?

Thanks very much for the heads up Matt. :)

I love it when you guys give us a vague idea of what to expect.  Hopefully no one takes this as any soft of guarantee from you, it's just nice to have something to look forward to, whenever, or however it may turn up.

Language localization:

Most software load a language specific .dll, which contains a compiled text file of a specific language. Of course, the software must be able to output language specific text strings. But there will certainly be no problem to find users on this forum to translate the text files in their specific country language. This can be done in 2-4 hours for a specific language.

So, no problem witch German.

WooHoo!

Something I have been waiting for too - I don't like having a machine with all those permissions which anyone in the house can use without me being around.   ;D
