Hi,

I just recently downloaded MC 11 and I noticed that Media Server now must be launch from inside Media Center. Is it possible to set it up such that it behaves like MC 10 where you can launch Media Server without launching MC? Or even make it possible to launch Media Server the moment you launch MC. Thank you!

There is a Media Server icon in the J River folder on the Start Menu, can't you just copy that to the Startup folder on the Start Menu???

For whatever it's worth, I have been struggling with this question and discovered that you have to use the uPnp server options within the tree view of Media Centre INCLUDING starting up the server.

Then if you exit Media Centre (without stopping the server) and start Media Server it will be running and sharing music.

This even applies if you then reboot and start Media Server again all by itself but only for the user where you had previously started the server from within Media Centre.

any help ?

I've done that and am running Media Server now but MC is not finding the media server across the network. I've also enabled Upnp plugin just in case but MC still fail to find the media server. The error message is "Fail to find local Media Server".

Anybody got any idea how to solve this?

Yeah! I finally manage to get it up. Apparently I need to start up library server inside Media Center before it works. But if that's the case, what's Media Server for?  ?

Anyway I now got another problem. I got quite a bit of songs that's in Traditional Big 5 Chinese fonts. Apparently that don't work with Library Server and below is the error message.

Received request for a file: J:\Mp3s\Chinese\sLK\!?—\J9 New + Party ¾x\!?— - 72Š.mp3
03/21/05 17:11:21 - Error sharing file, file not found

Apparently the encoding is wrong. Is there anyway to solve this problem?

I found and fixed a small bug that might be causing problems. Look for the next build.

Are you using library server with authentication? If so, try turning off authentication and see if that works.
