Hi,

I am not sure if any of you have tried this amplifier before but I gotta say that it really blew the hell away of the current amplifier I am using (Not an audiophile version, just a normal Pioneer VSX-D512 amplifier which I connect via Optical Cable). For $50AUD ($20USD from Target the last I heard) it really is a cheap and suprisingly good amplifier.

I am just wondering if there is anybody around here that has tried this amplifier and what is their comment on it. My setup before this was:

Terratec Aureon 7.1 via Optical Cable to Pioneer VSX-D512

and this amplifier actually blew the Pioneer amp away in turns of music quality. I am no audiophile but all I can say is WOW!

I think it is super-great for the price.

Sound clarity is great with moderate volume.

My advise is to overclock it to 14V, that will give you more powerful and deeper fuller sound. (and higher output). Then you can hear the true potential of this baby.

My old (really old) amplifier is now in storage.

Im having so much fun with this that im planning to buy two more, free them of their cheap plastic housing and put them inside my HTPC for a cheap 5.1 solution with extreme WAF.

I have some questions regarding the adaptor for this amp.

Is the amp more important than wattage if I want to drive more out of this amp? I mean I could get a 13.5v and 1.8amp power supply or a 12v 4amp power supply. Which will be better? (I am not very good with this kinda thing between amp and voltage )

Not true "overclocking" per se, as you're not increasing the clock frequency.

One note of caution when you increase the suppy voltage (actually two):

• if the unit has internal voltage regulators, the voltage increase you did won't matter.
• if the unit does not have internal voltage regulators, then watch for overheating.  Power dissipation goes up as the square of the voltage increase.

The voltage increase does matter! And yes the amp is a bit warmer with increased voltage, but not very hot.

I am using it with a regulated 13.8v 2.2amp adaptor and I gotta say that it kick the crap out of my Sony and Pioneer amplifier. Now if only I could get Aureon to output in 2.1 instead of 5.1 (because there is no LFE output if I select Stereo and I need it for my subwoofer).
