Moving Files
« on: June 29, 2005, 03:13:38 am »

After an earlier post regarding moving cover art along with the music files (MC11.299 leaves the cover art behind), I tried opening the Drives & Devices tree and moving the whole folder using drag & drop.

I drag the folder “My Computer\Music (M:)\MP3\Local\ELO” and drop it on my network place
“My Network Places\mp3_3 on Snap Server 4500 (snap01)”, then select Move.

The file & directories get moved somewhere ( I can’t yet pin that down ) and effectively disappear.

In order for the move to work, I have to navigate through
“My Network Places\Entire Network\Microsoft Windows Network\Snap01” then drop on the mp3_3 subdirectory there.

I guess the Move & Copy commands should also work with the links under My Network Places, as they do in Windows explorer.

The missing files went to the C:\Documents and Settings\user\NetHood directory.
That's the directory where the My Network place links are, not where the links point to.
Hope that clarifies the problem.
