I realize I bailed when it came time to beta test your skin, but now that it is done it is awesome!  I've got it going as ice on the upper  edge of my monitor.  Very discreet and great looking.  This is a huge day for MC plugins!  Thank you to UnkownID, Bullish Dad and tyler Campbell.

The finished product looks great! I played through the various options but I couldn't find a minimal view mode that you were thinking about adding back at the beginning. Did that get in?

Basically I would like to see it not as wide. The volume slider could probably be turned into an up/down slider which would reduce that space. Also there's a lot of blue/red space between the song/album and the times. Perhaps that could be reduced and then if the text is longer than the space it would scroll.

Looks beautiful and Happy Birthday!

The shrinking feature (which I am calling "Micro Mode") did not make it in. This is only the release of v1.0 and I have plans for a point release or two with some awesome additions; I needed to get this project off my plate and in the hands of JRiver users, so some stuff had to be postponed. Don't worry, I am not abandoning Paradigm ;D ;D ;D

Right now I have to work on stuff for my web design business (like getting more clients!). I will revisit Paradigm in a few months when time permits.

UnknownID, congratulations on the release of Paradigm.  Thanks for the thanks, I was happy to help in the beta testing. Paradigm is truly an eye-catching skin. I wish you success in your web design business.

I'm already looking forward to "Micro Mode".  I've noticed that a couple of others have echoed my comments about the overall width and can tell that you have paid attention and will work on this when your schedule permits.

Once again, good luck with your business and I hope to see around this board in the future.

sweet stuff!

i'm unable to get the "playlist window" button to work though.  what is it supposed to do?

currently it's a little difficult to navigate through all the menus to get to playing now and our different schemes, playlists, etc.  much easier to just jump into standard view and do it that way.  any plans on making this easier in one of the follow-up point releases?

Hmmm. That is strange. What version of MC do you have? Hitting the playlist button should open the playlist window above (or below) Paradigm. Do any of the other buttons work (i.e. Theme switcher or Options)?

If you are referring to the right-click menu, there is nothing I can do about that (to my knowledge). The functionality is built into the mini skin engine not the skin itself. All I can do is change the font and colors of that menu.

OK, got it.  Thanks!!

it was just a silly user (me) mistake.  i had Paradigm positioned at the absolute top of my screen and everything was popping up above (out of sight).  i've now set Paradigm to show the windows below.

the playlist is great, BTW, and is exactly what i was looking for in my second point.

do you think you or anyone else would find it useful to have a single button that would pop down the equivelant of the right click menu's "Quick Play->Media Library->Audio"?

It might be just your system. Have you gotten it again?

I get this one whenever MC is in Mini Mode, then minimized to the start menu bar, and it changes to another track:

=====
Error
=====
Code = 800a138f
Code meaning = Unknown error 0x800A138F
Source = Microsoft JScript runtime error
Description = 'undefined' is null or not an object
=====

Not sure what yours was all about, but mine is easily reporducable (at least on my machine) so it would be nice if JRiver looked into this ;D

I love the skin and I'm currently using it on my system.  I also get the same error on a track change when I minimize from the Paridigm skin.  Haven't been able to get this to happen with other Mini Skins.

11.0.316: (9/23/05)

1. Changed: Use the 3 number version by default, instead of the full 4 number version.

I know, but since this was the only thing that changed with 316 I decided to keep the one with the cool numbering ;D

Yes, I am still planning on working on this :)

I recently moved from California to Ohio and I just got a really BIG new client for my web design business, so I don't know exactly when I will start on this again, but I hope to soon.

After all, it has been a year since I initially released it, so I think it is about due for an update ;D ;D ;D

Actually it is a welcome change. My wife and I lived in Marina Del Rey, on the coast outside of L.A., and it was fun at first, but it got old. I grew up in the suburbs of Orlando, so living in a city-like environment just wasn't for me. I missed the trees, clean air, and the rain; way too much concrete for me in L.A. - I like a good balance of natural and artificial.

We have only been in Ohio for a short time, but I love it! Especially the slower-paced lifestyle and lack of excessive traffic. My wife and I are a little nervous about our first winter with snow, but I think we will manage ;D

Congratulations, UnknownID.  Glad to hear that your happy with the move and that business is going well.

Plus, it's nice to hear that you're still thinking about Paradigm Micro Mode.  The width of the PixOS mini skin with the current height of Paradigm would seem just about right as a micro version.

Ya I know what you mean about the concrete and traffic... I live in Canada and am from a small (at the time it was) city. I moved to the other side of Toronto with my wife, and am now in a townhouse... My yard can be cut with hedge trimmers....

I would love to move a little further out and have some property for my daughter, but it's tough to get jobs in small town's.

The snow isn't to bad, it's cold and annoying, but you'll get used to it.

hi there ijag, been a long time... you doing OK?

Have another look in the folder. Take the javascript.js file and open it with notepad. Scroll down about half way-ish looking for the section beginning "//Changes the Display Text depending on what button is pressed."

I think you'll be able to work it out from there. There's a line each for fire and ice, change them both to your liking, save the changes then switch to the skin to see the results.

Hey Marko... How goes?
Ya, I'm doin allright... Hope all is well on your end of the world!!

I had taken a look at that Script file,,, Spent 2 hrs or so going through it.

If I change:
IceTheme.GetSkinItem(typeInfoDisplay, "TrackDisplay").Text = "ARTIST - NAME";
To
IceTheme.GetSkinItem(typeInfoDisplay, "TrackDisplay").Text = "ARTIST - ALBUM - NAME";

I get AC/DC - ALBUM - Back In Black...

So, Here I sit, Broken Hearted and confused...

Things ain't that bad over here. We're going through some rather heavy adolescent turmoil atm, but experience has taught us that it won't last forever (hopefully). Thanks for asking.

Odd that it doesn't work, because that's exactly what I did here and it works just fine for me ?
I'll attach my js file here, just change the extention from txt to js after downloading, see if it works for you...

Adolescent's... Fun as a kid,,, Nightmarish for the parent.
My daughter is 4 going on 14.... But I remember when I was a teen.... I'm just hoping that she's not as bad as I was...  :)

I found out what my problem was... It wasn't in the code, I just needed to restart MC...   When I changed it, I only stopped the track, then started again...
But now, It's allright....

Thanks again for your help!!

Edit: You only have to switch skins.

You are so correct.... I never started getting along with my Dad till I was 21 and married...
I often wish that I got along with him prior to that because he was a very intellegent man... I could have learnt alot form him....

A way to advance through the track in Paradigm
« Reply #42 on: August 04, 2008, 10:02:11 am »

I love this mini-skin. Is there a way to advance through the track?  Not to the next track but through the track that's playing?  I listen to a lot of long podcasts (more than an hour) and would love to jump forward.  Having the audio slider become the position slider would work.

It looks like there hasn't been any development on this skin in a while but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

Love this skin!!
