MC11.1 - Upgrade installer
« on: September 28, 2005, 03:40:46 am »

The single reason I never used the automatic install option of previous builds was because I did not want the desktop and start menu shortcuts.
I'm willing to wager that I'm not the only one. If they were declined the first time around, subsequent upgrades should remember this and not create them.

Surely I'm not going to have to investigate write-protecting my desktop? :)

Yup, definitely been a few threads about this in the past!

I was pleased when I saw you no longer had the option, because I assumed it would at last have remembered the options I'd chosen. How wrong I was :-/

I know it's only a flipping icon, but still...

Yeah, still; I don't use the auto installer for the same reason.  It may only be an icon, but it's funny how people react to things; for me, removing the icon and menu item after installation offends my sense of process.  I'd rather not have to go looking for unnecessary crap after installing something, so I prefer to install manually, and every time it irritates me that the auto install option doesn't retain those options.  It just don't make no sense...

They say happiness is fleeting.

Either way, we'll change this in a coming build.

I Prefer The Quick Launch since i don't like short cuts on the desktop

my dad on the other hand has about 50 or so, you can't hardly see the backgound image.

Some better programs have an option for placing the start menu shortcuts.

I have to move them after every MC installation because I keep mine in "Programs\AV\Players\MC\". I guess I have done that several hundred times on my three MC-enabled PCs.

MC could be one of those better programs.  ;)
