I have problems with syncing my Creative Zen Xtra 30GB (Firmware 1.20.08e) and Driver 1.30.3.0. I sync it with a USB2-extension card with a NEC-chip, but also tried it with my onboard-USB1. My MC is 11.1.46 plus the Nomad Zen Xtra Plugin. I have no problem using it with the Open-Source-Program NomadSync (nomadsync.sourceforge.net), but it‘s very limited in features and not as comfortable as MC. I know I don't have the very latest build of MC, but I only have a analog modem, so the download is very slow.

When I plug the cable in, MC recognizes the handheld and asks, if it should handle the Zen as a portable player. But when I open the player in the „Drives&Devices“-tree, It displays „Device not found“.

Creative released a new firmware with MTP/PlaysForSure-Support some days ago. If I install it, I can't use NomadSync or any other Open-Source-Software for Zen any more, because they rely on Creatives own transport protocol. So Creative released the firmware update with warnings.

Should I try it and update my handheld with MTP-firmware, that discontinues the old Creative transport protocol? May that help?

Should I try it and update my handheld with MTP-firmware, that discontinues the old Creative transport protocol? May that help?
