cannot burn datadvd, "unknown error"
« on: November 20, 2005, 06:26:58 am »

Have tried to burn a datadvd with mp3's four times now - with the same result every time:

The burningdialoque says that it writes lead-in, burns, and then MC halts for some time in the "closing disk" phase, and ultimately says:

"unknown error device codes: 255,121,0" and then my only option is to close.

How can I fix this so I burn my datadvd's?

Can you burn CD-R/RW discs normally? Have you installed other CD burning applications? Can you burn DVD discs with any other application?

I have no idea if this helps, but you may want to try Adaptec's ASPI driver: http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe

After installing the ASPI driver you could first try the test mode (Tools > Options > CD Writer > Test Mode) and then try a rewriteable disc if the test mode seems to work.

EDIT

A newer MC11 version is available: http://www.jrmediacenter.com/download.html. The v. 11.0.316 has no changes in the CD/DVD burning part, but sometimes a reinstall can fix things.

thank you Alex for the response.

Tried the newer version and it gave me the same result. Due to lack of time,
I went and tried Roxio instead, and it worked as it should.
