Coverart dilema
« on: January 05, 2006, 07:31:44 pm »

How I have things setup currently is coverart is stored as folder.jpg files with each album or video.
This has been working great for music files and ripped vob files stored on hard drives.  I have a couple other things that require folder.jpg also so I really don't want to change this.

The issue surfaces when I want to import other DVDs that I'd like to leave on disc and not rip to the hard drive.

When I attempt to paste the cover art to these imported record, it fails.  Obviously because it's trying to write the folder.jpg file to a non-writable media folder.

Ok.  So I saved the image to a folder on the hard drive.
Then right clicked on the movie and chose Image > Add From File.
Browsed to and selected the image file from the hard drive.
It won't attach the image.

The only way I can get the artwork to stick is to change the options to use the "in specific folder" setting instead of folder.jpg, which again, I'm strongly against changing.

Perhaps it's looking at the option setting even though I overrode it and picked an image from elsewhere?

Is there a workaround I'm missing?

Could this be because in the Image File field Option, its set to store in tag wherever possible. Which is isn't possible since its on DVD.

Ignore the err msg, the imaqe file should still be associated in the library (I think).

So when you browse the offline content in a view scheme, there should still(?) be a thumbnail.

It should work if you answer no to this question when adding a cover art image from file:
Quote
Would you like to copy this image to the cover art location you have specified in options?

At least it works on my PC (MC 11.1.95). The DVD can be inside the drive or not, that does not make any difference.

If you have previously answered yes and ticked this option in the confirmation dialog:

Don't show this message again

- you may need to find out how to reset it. I suppose it is a registry value.

Here is the registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\Properties\Confirm Add Art Copy Image

Change it from 1 to 0 if MC does not display the confirmation dialog.

No, I don't store art in tags for music either.

Here is the registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\Properties\Confrim Add Art Copy Image

Change it from 1 to 0 if MC does not display the confirmation dialog.

That did it!  Case closed.  Muchas Gracias!
