MJ Hangs when Recording Using MP3 Plug In
« on: September 26, 2002, 09:05:34 am »

I used the program Check for Updates to download 2 new plug ins for MP3 and WMA yesterday.  I tried to record a tape and MJ crashed when trying to encode.  I received the following error

Media Jukebox caused an invalid page fault in module Recorder.dll at 017F:0363F15A.

Please note that the recorder worked perfectly yesterday morning before I downloaded the new plug ins.

What version of MJ do you have?  Try the latest from the downloads page.

I have 8.0.372 or the latest downloadable version.

I also received a blue screen with the following error:

Fatal exception 0D occurred at

015F:00005EBB.

New Information Below

I may be using MJ in an unusual manner.  I am recording sermons some of which are 45 minutes long each.  The resulting .WAV files are anywhere from 350MB to 475MB in size.

I noticed that most of the crashing occurred when MJ attempts to run the LAME encoder.  I also noticed that the LAME encoder is a DOS program, not a Windows program.  I have heard horror stories about DOS programs running under Windows.

Is there a windows version of LAME which will probably work better than a DOS version which is apparently causing protected memory errors?
