TV Tuner problem
« on: September 22, 2002, 05:35:38 am »

I never used the TV tuner on MJ until I saw the post about using MJ like  Tivo...
I had to try it out so I bought a TV Card (ATI version.. poor sound which I will be exchanging for a better one)

Anyhow, here is the problem I've encountered...
When I watch TV and close MJ, the TV audio stays on, depsite the fact that MJ is no longer running...

Other than That MJ is a dream.

Also,
Can you listen to music and watch TV simultaneously?
And what is "Video COmposite)

not within the program.

I really never used the TV option because of this.

I always used ATI's TV And Played Music As I Watched TV, And Surfed The Web Or Did A Bit Of Programing.

Which ATI card do you have?

I just  bought the TV Wonder VE, which doesn't have stereo sound, all I hear is an annoyin ghiss while I watch TV.

Do you have any recommendations?

And maybe we can have the option to watch TV and listen to music in MJ (  ;)

I Have This But I ALso Have The ATI All In Wonder Radion 32 Meg Video Card.

The All In Wonder Radion TV Is Better I Was Told It Was Due To The Drivers That The All In Wonder Uses.

I've used both cards without problems and I don't notice the difference.

The hiss doesn't sound right.  Something not right about the TV settings?  Also take a look at volume settings in Windows.

he might need to look at muting Line Or the Mic. i think i seen that problem before when using the TV Wonder VE card.

Not a problem with the card just a setup problem i created when playing around with it a year ago when i was using it before the all in wonder card.

The problem I think is that the TV card requires an external connection to the sound card.

I am using a soundlblaster live value card...

I cant figure out where to hook up the stupid tv card intoi.

The only way I can get sound is to hook it into the mic and set MJ to mic...

There must be  a better way :(

My Wifes Computer has one there is a Mic, line-In and might have an Aux jack, you take the small jumper and put it on one.

In windows mute and un-mute untill it works.

The hiss doesn't sound right.  Something not right about the TV settings?  Also take a look at volume settings in Windows.

I have the same ATI card and the same problem.  I almost never use the card because of the hiss.

I think I've fiddled with every setting in the volume control panel to try to get rid of this hiss, all without any luck.

UPDATE: I was able to improve this.  I opened volume control in win2k - selected Recording properties, and selected Line-In as the monitor source.  At least, I think that's how they refer to it.  It's a checkbox underneath each source (line-in, microphone, etc).  Now the hiss is still there, but it is reduced maybe 70%.

that may also be a problem with the sound card, there was also a problem once with Drivers in Windows XP. I Had to Do a Complete Install Of Windows XP To Fix It.

Problem solved :)

I returned the card I had and bought the ATI-TV Wonder which has stereo TV sound ans an internal connection to the sound card...

This just proves that I should have no problem with the pricing of MJ... if you want quality, you have to pay for it, and it is worth it (like how I got that in this post)

Now, all I wonder is if MJ could allow you to losten to music and watch TV?  That would be nice in version 9.0!
