Ah I see what your saying.
Love that site, it's quite crazy.
I just see the gray border frame on this one however,
with the text on a non raised area.  :-\

Try as I might, I CAN'T see the raised button. All I can see is the gray frame with the center cut out.

And I'm one of those people who can see those MagicEye images instantly. It amuses me to no end to pick up one of those books in a waiting room and flip through the pages as fast as I can going "Sailboat, Unicorn, uh... some stupid triangle and sphere, a schooner..."

But I can't see the raised button. Do I need to cross my eyes a little?

what do you see? A raised button on a grey plate, or grey frame floating over the background?

I saw a floating frame with text on the background behind. Light would have to be coming from 2 opposing directions for it to be a tile with a button.

I think part of the problem is that the drop shadow on the inside is darker than the one on the outside, which destroys the impression that the same lighting conditions are in effect on both sides of the frame...

I'd still prefer it if it didnt throw up that image at all (unless there really is no images for that grouping). It should skip over entries with no image so that the stack is images only.

It will unless you have broken image links in your library.

We'll consider any NoTile.png that gets submitted.  It needs to look good with any color background and either work with any media type or contain a different image for each media type.

I experimented a bit with a circular cut-out.

Here are the PNG images for testing: NoTile.zip

think the ammount of space available for the album name needs to be maximised. You may still get some titles that are too small to read, but with maximised space, we would be able to read as many as is possible.

edit: you were joking weren't you? if you were serious, I humbly apologise for laughing :)

Well, I guess I was joking.  :)

I tried to develop the circular cut outs further, but didn't get anywhere. Then I saw a spiral on orange...

Deivit, I see where you're coming from, and agree, that would work well, but I think the two are seperate things.

I agree with you in your linked thread, but not here. I don't think the title should scroll on the album image itself. The way I see it, album covers don't have scrolling text, they're static things.

Sorry Marko, I did not realize you were talking about the text "inside" the no-cover pic and thought you were refering to the thumbnail text. Obviously they are two different things.

I agree with you that the tittle inside the no-cover pic should not scroll but remain fixed, but it could rather spread over several lines instead of being confined to one only line of text. It looks completely unreadable in my setup.

Word wrap would help a bit. Though, it would possibly look as ugly as the current system. I think I would rather watch a nice picture without any text - like a spiral on orange. :)

We're planning, in a future build, to take the collection of suggestions people here have made, and cycle through them several times a minute.  Would that work?

=)
I do like the one on the left, although maybe change the yellow to blue or something, and make the music notes blacker.  It's a bit lacking in contrast at present.

All in all MC must be pretty good if people are down to complaining about the
no thumbs image!

Maybe complaint was the wrong word  :P
And don't ask what the right word is.   I'm not good with words. :-X

Customisations good, I'm still using your custom icons =)
