Where is LAME plug-in?
« on: April 17, 2006, 03:22:40 pm »

Sorry... I've looked at the FAQs, looked at the plug-in index, etc., but it's not apparent where I can download the LAME plug-in.

Thanks

Pick "MP3" from the encoding list in Options.  Pick "Advanced" to configure whether MC uses LAME or GoGo.  LAME is the default.

Right: Tools > Options > Encoder

I select MP3 encoder

Then I get an error msg:
Invalid package file. cannot continue.
File http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/mc_data/plugins/lameemp3encoder.mip

This machine is NOT connected to the 'Net and to do so is a major inconvenience. What's the workaround?

There are two typos in that link.  Did you re-type it?

This link works:
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/mc_data/plugins/lamemp3encoder.mjp

Yes, I retyped it. Thanks for the correct link.

I downloaded the MJP and ZIP files, placed both in the plugins subfolder, modified the URL inside the MJP, then executed it. The plugin installed AOK and all is well.

Thanks

If your PC isn't connected to the Internet, please see the FAQ for plug-in download problems and a work-around.  The trick is to get both the mjp file and zip file, then edit the mjp file so it installs from a local directory.  It's in the FAQ.

I was just replying back to you. I remembered this procedure from before and now all is well.
