Media Center 11.1.179
« on: May 01, 2006, 05:10:53 pm »

This is the latest version of MC 11.1.  Your MC11.0 license will work with it.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted or moved.  MC11.1 is a free upgrade from MC11.0.

If you're new to MC11, please use the build from our download page here:
http://www.jrmediacenter.com/download.html

This latest build (usually safe) of MC11.1 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter111179.exe

11.1.179 (5/1/2006)

1. Changed: Gapless handling of LAME MP3 files from CUE files is now perfect like non-CUE playback.
2. Fixed: Improved CUE file parser for CUE files that didn't have full header information.
3. Changed: Slight modification in how and when panes to the right of the last selection reset when not filtering in both directions.
4. Fixed: Holding down previous / next for rewind / fast forward could cause strange results in some cases.
5. Fixed: A couple of Help links from the Options pages were not working.
6. Fixed: Tagging mode wouldn't properly preserve a pane's scroll position after checking a box.
7. Fixed: Playing search results (menu or shift+enter) while viewing an Action Window playlist could play the wrong playlist.
8. Changed: Tuned player area font auto-sizing. (if you aren't pleased with how a particular font sizes, switch to the recommended font Tahoma)

11.1.178 (4/27/2006)

1. Fixed: YADB lookup was failing in cases where multiple CD's were being analyzed simultaneously.
2. Fixed: Podcast episodes were not being updated until the Feed was refreshed the second time.
3. Changed: Read offset compensation option removed from advanced CD ripping options page.
4. Fixed: During auto-rip, if a CD was canceled due to missing meta-data, it could not be restarted without an eject and re-insert.
5. Fixed: MC sometimes incorrectly listed files as not sync'd on drive based handhelds.
6. Fixed: 'Ignore Articles' causing items to disappear from groupings in some views and servers.

11.1.177 (4/25/2006)

1. Changed: Spanish translation file updated.
2. Fixed: The word "ROOT" used in the base path for a handheld STILL not working properly for all devices. (MuVo, etc.)
3. Fixed: Some context menu items were not getting translated.

New Features in MC 11.1
Podcasting support, with OneClick Podcast subscription
Audible fully supported
Much improved handheld support for iPod, PlayforSure devices, and many others
User-configurable locations for media types on handhelds
iPod Shuffle and Nano support
Photos and album art on iPods that support it
Automatic backup of library
Directshow support for AAC files
Much faster handling of thumbnail images (requires one-time rebuild of thumbnails)

Media center loses the focus if a Playlist with F5 is updated.
Or if a title from a Playliste is deleted.

There is much disturbing please repaired that.

179 still has the issue where if an Audible track is moved while an iPod is connected, this track is considered "Missing" by MC and it cannot be synched to the iPod.  "Recheck Sync" does not solve the issue -- MC must be closed and re-launched, or the iPod must be disconnected/reconnected in order for MC to sync the track.

It just occurs to me that so far, I've only tested this issue on Audible files.  I don't yet know if the issue also pertains to other file types.

This goes on and on.  In addition to selecting the OmniFi in the Options menu, I have tried Auto Detect and Noxon, both give the same result.  Anything I can/ should do, or is it a bug that's being worked on?

Uncheck "Warn on unrecognized NOTIFY" in the Options.

MC is still not uploading Napter To Go tracks correctly. MC adds them to the sync list then spends 5 mins trying to sync each returning an error. Occasionally one will transfer correctly. Once on the device these files are fine.

We've seen SDL sync slowness in the past, but not in any easily reproducible manner.  Formatting the device and starting fresh always fixed the issue.  If it isn't too much trouble, maybe you could try a format and resync.

As a result of the font changes the font size in the Action Window is now very small.  I am running at 1024x768 on a 15inch monitor...I would hate to see the size of text at a larger res on a large monitor.  I tlooks about 8pt now...

Also I am seeing wierd behaviour with smartlists.  When I try and send a smart list to playing now it always gets sent in a mixed order.  Its not andom because its always the same but neither is it the correct order.  If I select all files then choose ad to playing now its fine.  If I double click the list in the tree or right click and select play or add to playing now the order is wrong.

Cheers

Could you give a step-by-step?  Are you playing the file you're moving?  Are you moving files in the library or on the iPod?

Thanks Larry.

Matt,

I'm not playing the file I'm moving, and I'm moving them in the Library, NOT on the iPod.

Here is the step-by-step:

- Open MC.

- Connect iPod and wait for MC to see it and give me the sync status.

- Verify that NONE of the files in the sync list are listed as "Missing."

- Go to the Audible "Downloaded titles" and hi-lite a title.

- Use "Rename file from properties" to move the file -- i.e. to change the "path" but NOT the "filename."  NOTE:  I need to do this because MC automatically puts Audible downloads in the "My Documnts\My Music\Audible Titles" folder, but I put all my audio media in D:\Audio Library, using the "Artist\Album" structure for "Author\Book."

- Go back to the iPod sync report page and "Recheck Sync."

- At this point, the file will be listed as "Missing" in the list rather than as "In Queue."  If I try to do a sync at this point, it will give me an error saying that it could not sync this file.

Either 1 or 2:

1 - Close MC and re-launch it.  Check the iPod sync report again, at which point the file is no longer listed as "Missing."

OR

2 - Eject iPod and reconnect it.  Check the iPod sync report again, at which point the file is no longer listed as "Missing."

- At this point, the sync will work normally.  If I move the file again, however, the same thing will happen, and MC will consider the file "Missing" again.

Note that if the file is move BEFORE the iPod is connected, the issue doesn't occur.  This only happens of the file is moved WHILE the iPod is connected.

As I mentioned, I haven't checked to see if this happens for any file or just for Audible files.  This is next on my list of things to try.

Thanks for looking into this,

Larry

PS.  Is there any chance of being able to seperately specify the location and "path rules" for Audible downloads so I don't have to do this manually after every download?  Being able to customize this (like we can with songs when ripping CDs) would be a very welcome addition.  The choice would have to be seperate from the "normal" path rules (i.e. these rules would be unique to Audible downloads) due to the slightly different default naming conventions that Audible uses (i.e. they don't use the "Album" field by default.)

Just noticed this today.

When tag editing in fields, the activated field changes font size to the next smallest point. Example:

1. Click "Artist" tag.
2. Field activates, font goes one size smaller.
3. Type correction, hit "Enter"
4. Tag Font returns to regular size.

I hope this describes the problem. I would do a screenshot, but I am pinched for time.

-EDIT-

http://www.bgracetfaith.net/misc/fontissues.jpg Large Pic!

Ok, I managed to squeeze a screenshot off real quick. I don't know whats going on here, but font sizes are not uniform at all. Just look at the different fonts on the screen. Sure the font type is uniform, but sizes are all out of whack. You've got 8 point here, 7 point there, 11 point somewhere else. There needs to be a uniform look here. Also, the screenshot doesn't show it, but I just noticed that the Action Window is using font size 7 when ripping and such.

Nowhere on my system do I use a font-type larger than Tahoma 10, why should MC be the sore thumb using a size larger than 10 in its player display.

New multiple CD YADB issue - I inserted a CD while another was ripping which caused a dialog box to come up to select which DB entry. I inserted another CD when RIP stopped before selecting an answer.

Another YADB selection box came up, I made a selection and pressed OK.

Back to first selection box, made a selection and pressed OK.

Pressed OK on two Could not connect to YADB boxes.

Made first selection box selection again. Made first selection box selection third time.

Everything seemed ok after that - RIPping progressed.

Bugs for Media Center 11.1.179

New

  • Theater View's font is really tiny now. I have it set to size Large, and the buttons are all fine, but the text is small.
  • Remote server will frequently crash MC. I've been trying to pinpoint a concrete way to reproduce it, but so far, all I can see is that it looks like if you make multiple selections too quickly, it'll crash. Last night, I tried using it very slowly, and it still crashed. I wasn't able to confirm it with the other house denizen, but they may have been trying to play something locally at the same time I was trying to play something remotely (it's a game I like to play where she's happily listening to something and then I'll queue up Sheryl Crow, whom she hates with a passion).

Old

  • When MC attempts to import .mov files from my camera, it's renaming them based on the Image Name setting I have in the Scanner Options. So it's getting saved with a .jpg extension and it's doing something funky to the file as well, because even if I rename it back to a .mov extension, it's unplayable. It's almost like it's trying to convert the .mov to .jpg.

Here's a link to the resulting file...

Before I renamed it...
After I renamed it...

  • MC is storing View Settings based on the name of the View Scheme. If the name changes to something never used before, then MC creates a new View based on that name. Rename it back to what it was before, and MC will show you the View as it was under that name. Give it a completely new name again, and you get the default view settings again. This behavior persists even after closing and restarting MC.

If you are tagging with the panes, when you make a change, the panes are reset.

This is proving to be very dificult to tag.   Was this by design?

I have got to a point where MC is creating two id based directories in the thumbnail directory (one for each library), but now it re-draws the thumbnails of the other library each time i switch to it (the opposite library compared to before). This works better for me because there are less files in the second library, but is still of course, undesirable behaviour.

Also, i have the tiles for my images sorted by "Date". I cant see why, but it is sorting the tiles wrong. It sorts so that "England" is first and "Japan" is third. I havent been to England for about a year, so I cant see why it would do that. The date on the images all seem right, and were taken with the same camera.

I also noticed that if you select a screen grab to be used for a video thumbnail, it doesnt actually show until you restart MC.
