Problem importing media files
« on: May 14, 2006, 06:32:43 pm »

When I add mp3's to my Music folder, and then tell Media Jukebox to import files, it has no trouble importing them.

However, if I add any other type of file (wav, au, etc) to my Music file, when I tell Media Jukebox to import them, it just hangs....nothing happens....no error codes, no files importing.  When I try to click cancel, the process does not cancel.  The only way I can end it is to close Media Jukebox with Windows Task Manager.

My Media Jukebox is set up as the program to open these other types of files.  But for some reason, I can't import them.

help!

Try to see if you can narrow down which files are causing problems.  Try importing a single file type, a directory at a time.

Are you using the latest MJ?  8.0.400?

I am using 8.0.400

I have one .au file, and about 20 .wav files.  First I tried to import all of them.
Then, just the .au file.
Then, just the .wav files.
But it hangs no matter what.

I added an mp3 file to the folder, and it imported fine.

These files are all in the same folder with my mp3's.  I even tried moving the wav and au files to a new folder, and import from there, but the problem remains.

I don't know what the au file is, but there are some odd wav files.  I think they may be mono, but I'm not sure.

Where did the files come from?  Can you play them in MJ?

What happens if you rip to wav in MJ?  Can you play those files?

They will definitely play in MJ if I open them with the program.
They are all wav files of Television themesongs....and since they are older shows, you are probably right about them being mono.  Is that the problem...MJ won't import mono files?

I was hoping MJ would have a complete catalog of all my sound files.

You might try our Media Center product on the files.  It may work.
