MC11 and MC12 living together?
« on: June 27, 2006, 01:50:52 pm »

Does 11 and 12 behave on the same system? I installed the beta next to MC11 but I seem to have some issues with the old MC. Not that I ever want to use it again, it's like christmas time playing around with 12 :)

Make sure you have MC11.1.188 (or higher) installed.

Running 11.1.188 and 12.0.28 together on winXP home.  They work well together, matter of fact I can run both simultaneously, FWIW.  The only issue I notice is that 11.1.188 is slower than 12.0.28.  Not really slow, but sub-light speed.  Christmas in June . . .

I'll be removing mc11 from this test machine tomorrow so as to have a clear deck to kick off from.

MC12 is picking up and using, the playingnow plugin installed with MC11.1

It's not using the flac plugins. I installed them via the plugin manager to the MC12 installation, but they still don't work. will reboot in the morning and report back.

Customised tree quite heavily in v11.1...
Restoring 11.1's library to v12 made quite a mess of the pretty new layout...

night all, see you in the morning.

Ya, I noticed that too. I was gonna post the screens, but do not have a website yet. I should be getting off the rear and getting one in the next day or three   ;D

I had the same thing happen, but after editing Documents tree position to "Automatic" it fell nicely into place next to Video.

Found a possible problem. When I installed MC12 beside MC11, MC12 automatically shared the 3rd party plugins installed with MC11. This can't be good!

Playing Now will work ok. But evil lyrics, if you click hide, it will crash MC.

What I meant was that in an isolated install, plugins should be isolated as well, not shared between two diffferent installs. If the plugin API changes for instance, there will be instability issues.
