iPod Shuffle 1Gb?

Does MJ8 (8.0.400) support the iPod Shuffle?
I'm running XP Pro SP2 and the iPod is a USB model.
The computer can see the iPod but I don't have iTunes installed since I'd rather manage the iPod with MJ.
I downloaded the "Handheld" plugin for the iPod and also changed the volume label in MJ to match what my ipod has but MJ reports this error:
"Your iPod was not detected. Please check the Volume Label on your iPod and then go to Tools->Plug-in Manager->Handheld->Portable Drives->Configure and make sure your Volume Label matches this entry"

MJ8 doesn't support the shuffle.  Have you tried JRiver Media Center?  It's here:

Darn. I was hoping NOT to have pay just to connect my iPOD.
I went ahead and bought MC11 and it worked like a charm...seems like a nice product so far....
