MP3 Encoder, saving to disk
« on: July 20, 2006, 09:13:11 am »

Is there any way of saving the L.A.M.E. mp3 encoder to the hard disk, istead of automatically downloading the plugin frm the skins and plugin's page.. I can't remember but i think you need to install the plugin with every new build. That, quite frankly is a little to much trouble.

Thanks

Only if you Uninstall MC

You should not need to on every new build if you just install it overtop of MC

Not sure why you say it is a big problem since MC does this for you, and all you need to do is Click "OK"

The reason it's aproblem is because i now have a laptop, and so i use the desktop computer exclusively for the internet, the laptop does not have the internet connected, and won't. No chance of viruses and spyware, which means no more formatting.

Also, can i save the library and playlists with all the fields that i have added, as with the new builds, everything goes back to the default settings.

These should work between builds and is saved in the library.

What isn't saved however is viewscheme settings..

ie right-click->Customise Current View variety.

Install MC on the desktop computer and let it download the needed files. Copy the lame.exe and gogo.exe files from the desktop to the laptop. The path is [MC install path]\Plugins. MC will not trigger the download if these files are present.

If needed, this post has links to separate file downloads: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=32515.msg223022#msg223022

Do you uninstall the old build before installing a new build? As King said, that is not needed.

When you install a new build on top of the old build everything is saved (inside the same MC version). A version upgrade may lose some settings like the saved view presets. In any case you can restore a library backup file. It includes all library fields and playlists besides the file info.

This thread might help:

http://www.mediajukebox.com/pluginproblems.html

All plug-ins are two files -- an mjp (Media Jukebox Package install file) and a zip file.
