M4A files show as movie reels after reinstall
« on: August 01, 2006, 12:14:53 pm »

I reinstalled MC on my system after wiping and reinstalling the system. I have run into a problem with MC recognizing the files in M4A format (iTunes songs). They do not show up in the Audio scheme, but the Video scheme. For some reason these are not flagged as Audio files. How can I tell MC that the files with the extension M4a are audio??

Thanks.

We have seen one type of m4a files being categorized as video. These are files that have chapter info in them. QuickTime engine recognizes these as video streams. That is why the files are classified as video. Does this agree with your situation?

You can manually change the type from video to audio for each file.

Thanks for the quick response.

I did not have iTunes installed when I originally imported the files.  I installed iTunes, cleared my library, and re-imported the files. This time the M4A files were seen as audio.

Thanks again.
