24 degrees here in Edinburgh, Scotland this weekend.

I wish it would rain. Not typical british drizzle, but real, bouncing 12" off the ground, rain...

Eh, you folks have A/C units?
They are few and far apart here. And most who have them do not turn them on.

Takes all the fun out of going out when it hits 95+F.
My place is REAL popular with Chinese friends during extreme hot or cold weather oddly enough.

The Heat Is Created By The Earth Being Sucked In Closer To The Sun Each Year.

Predictions Are The Sun Will Flair Up And Go Super Nova. The Earth Will Then Plunge Into The Sun Leaving A Lager Vacuum In the Time Space Continuum.

Never mind the time/space continuum, a lager vacuum anywhere has gotta be pretty bad news ;)

(Being a beer 'n' whisky man, I never actually touch lager, just couldn't let the opportunity pass by :D )

It hasn't been all that bad here in South Carolina; low to mid 90s.

This past week is the sort I always remind people of when they curse the winter cold.

In my mind I can always put on another sweater or hold a sweetheart just a little bit closer, longer and harder in the winter.

But in the summer... Well you can't really get past naked when cooling off. And I still feel hot. As for the sweetheart, either she's nasty and smells funky or vice versa. Frankly our libido takes a nosedive in the heat and humidity. And then there's the increased risk of heat stoke when engaging in physical activity. And the risk of dehydration is even greater.

In the winter we run from heated homes to heated cars to heated workplaces. In the summer we run from air conditioned homes to air conditioned cars to air conditioned workplaces. In both cases t seems we try to spend the minimal amount of time outdoors. So what's the difference, really?

I like the layout of your neighborhood, Lunchmeat.  Not a bunch of wasted space on grass yards (which really just makes "everyone's" big yard -- the rest of the green spaces -- less big).

Just very different than what they do here....
