Registration that no longer works for Media Jukebox 8.0.4

Hi,

I puchased this Jukebox 3 years ago, about 3 weeks ago the plus features stopped working. It says my trial period is over. I do a registration restore, and it says it fails to restore. I have my key code nothing seems to work. I have tried everything, and nothing is working. I am very frustrated, I tried to restore from my file, and from the internet, and all attempts have failed. I don't understand why it would work perfect for 3 years, and then pop up and say my trial period is over, then all attempts to restore fail. Please Help. I do not have any problems with spam or filtering, so please dont use that as an excuse. Yes I have permission to write to my registry. I would like a key code that works, or a refund of my money. Did your system change name or anything else about 3 weeks ago?

Are you using Internet Explorer to do the restore?

What exact error message are you getting?

Nothing has changed, yes I am using internet explorer. The message reads failed to restore license, also in the help it says its unregistered. Now I only have 2 restores left. I purchased it on March 8, 2003...it has worked perfect until 3 weeks ago, now my plus features are gone, and it says my trial period is over, and I can purchase the features for $14. I have tried everything, I am pretty knowledgable about computers, nothing is working for me.

Uninstall and reinstall Media Jukebox, then try the restore process again.

Why is JRiver making this difficult.....I payed for the player, lets make it easy....send me a code that works to my e-mail: julietandmyprince@hotmail.com

I shouldn't have to go through all of this, telling to uninstall and reinstall, thats crazy. I payed for a product, and if something happens, it should be corrected by the manufacturer, not the customer. Whatever happened to the customer is always right policy. Just send a key code that works!! Then the problem is solved!!

We don't know what the problem is.  We're trying to help.

But it worked for 3 years and now it doesn't, but you think that's our problem.  I don't think so.  Something may have changed on your PC.

So please slow down and tell us exactly what you've done.  Did you find your Registration Code and visit the Restore Page?  Did you get any error message?

Are you absolutely certain that your PC's system date is correct?

Did you install any new software?  Firewall, popup blocker, etc.

You asked: Did you find your Registration Code and visit the Restore Page? Yes I did, now I am down to 2 more restores. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. My date and time are correct on my PC. I have no new software. Nothing has changed on my PC. And yes I do feel it is some sort of error on JRiver. I did nothing, but open the jukebox to play some music, and it says my trial is over. When I do the restore, it says failed to restore license. I understand your trying to help, but geez this is frustrating. Why cant you just send a code that works to my e-mail, thats what I dont understand, or since I cant use the product a refund would be nice.

JimH said don't worry about the restores, they will reset it for you

How about this:

Open Up Microsoft Internet Explorer

Click on Tools

Click On Internet Options

On The General Tab Click On "Delete Files"

There is A bug in IE that does not manage temp files correctly. this will remove the old temp files and give you a clean temp folder, and May allow MJ8 to install the license.

this was a common problem with installing a license key, and may help you.

I will try that again, I tried it once, but nothing. I also shut off the firewall and popup blocker after that and tried and it still says failed to restore license. But will do it again.

Are you logged in as a user with admin privileges?

Please provide the details of what happens when you try to restore.

I dont know if I am logged on with adminstrative privilages.

It did not work, and I only have one restore left.

You have ten restores left.  When you enter your Registration Code (using IE) what happens?  Details, please.

I cleared all the cookies, and the temp internet files, and did a disc clean up. The Media Jukebox works fine, the plus features says it has expired. I went to the restore page on IE and it says FAILED TO RESTORE LICENSE.

Copy-and-paste your system info here please (under Help->System Info)

Do you scan your computer for viruses and spyware? It's possible one of those might be interfering with the installation.

How many user accounts does the machine have? Which one are you using?

Here is the system info. I did a virus scan, and a spyware scan, then tried the restore. Still does not work. I am pretty sure it only has one user account.

I think what they were also saying, and we know this as a fact (since it happen to me also). That some spyware programs, and pop up blockers to include the one in IE6 will not allow the program to register.

so if you could try to turn off all spyware programs, and pop-up blockers and then try again.

I think a few users also said they had a firewall program also (like Norton) even if you closed the program down it would block MC from registering.

And it is kind of weired because some said it worked and others said it would not work with some of the same programs. so sometimes i think it is how strong the user has some of the settings within some of the programs.

maybe you and them are not on the same page, if they reset it i am sure they did.

not unless you keep using a restore, and you are not saving the Registration file so you don't use up all your restores. the restore page tells you how to do that.

maybe if you post a picture of what the error message states.

Please try again.

Make sure you are logged in and that the user has admin rights.

This is exactly what is says, "Error installing Media Jukebox License: OK" There is no error number. This is the exact message I am getting. Yes I have admin rights.

I was disgusted and purchased it this morning again, and still I am getting the error message, and it is still unregistered. I would like my money back, credit my account for the money I spent. I am not happy with this, and JRiver has bad customer service! Just credit my account!

We'll refund your purchase of today, but we've tried to help and King Sparta's guess is almost certainly correct.  Something on your PC isn't right.  You could try installing on another PC to confirm this.

I am done trying to fix it....just please refund my money. I do feel JRiver should have better customer service. Typing to someone just is not the same as speaking to someone live, that knows what they're doing. Some people are not computer literate, and typing does not help the situation. Whether it is my pc or a JRiver defect, I don't know, and probally never will. I do know it worked fine until about 4 weeks ago. Nothing changed on my computer, that I am aware of. Thanks for trying to help, just please refund my money...thanks
