Saving tag info for recreated files
« on: August 29, 2006, 02:22:07 pm »

I had to uncompress some of my APE files back to WAV to do some other processing on the files. I did so and did not delete the APE's which therefore now still have all their original tag info.
I am done working on the WAV files and they are now also back in the same file folder as the APE's
Is there a way to transfur all that tag info to the new APE files when I convert the WAV's back to APE?
The WAV's do of course have the same file name except extension as the old APE's

I don't think the encoding process will over write files with the same name.
You could encode the files, saving the new apes to a different location (update database unchecked), then use explorer to move/copy the new apes to the old folder, replacing the old files, then go back to MC, select the apes in question, right click, library tools, update tags from library.

that would work. for the sake of perfection and consistency, it wouldn't do any harm to follow that up with an 'update library from tags', and if you use audio analysis, run them through the tool one more time too.
Job done.
