I've tried with 11.1, works perfect. So something in the new version is getting wrong (however, previous 12-betas went fine). Any ideas of settings?

I've had the import halt problem with all the 12 betas--will stop for no apparent reason after importing 5,000 or 8,000...  My library is about 80,000.  The process doesn't seem to remember the previous import and apparently starts over each time.

Checked my MC11.1.201 and I get similar incomplete imports.  What's wrong with my database (resides on a NAS raid)?

Cleaning the library and starting from scratch did the job ... but for how long?

I made 2 changes to my hardware; connected the Network Attched drive direct to my workstation thru a second pci card, rather than a lan connection, and deleted the library and created a new NAMED one (this suggested elsewhere in the forum).

My MC11 has been now running for 3/4 day, 3991 of 95,000, sometimes it stops for a few seconds to a few minutes, but typically 1 to 5 seconds...but still running.  Task Manager shows no process sucking cycles, don't understand what's going on...something sucks up my graphics horsepower and the MC window pretty much freezes, and when I drag another window across MC, it leaves unrefreshed images...

Tomorrow I will try MC12 if MC11 ever finishes...

I gave up on MC11 ever finishing so I am importing into my MC12 with a named library.  At first the import speed was as slow as yesterday, but I shut down ZoneAlarm Suite including the AV and stopped all associated process--now MC is importing 5 to 10 times faster.

From Watchdog I am getting hundreds of error messages: (but it's still importing):

MC12 imported about 50,000 files, then crashed and crashed Watchdog too.  I have turned on the MC logging and resumed importing.

Here is a snipped of log which may or may not indicate an m3u import problem: (do these relate to the Watchdog first-chance-exceptions log errors above?)

I'm into my 12th MC12-Bib now, everytime I have to import a new song, I have to make a new bib, which is ... even more annoying than strange. MC11 never fails. Can this issue be solved, or is there a way to go back to MC11 (money refund included)?

We're aware of a problem that may be the same, and we're working on it.

Try importing only a single type of file for now.  Please see if you can help identify what causes the problem.

I've tried to import a single file, the log indicates that 1 new files was added. No specific error. Importing 3-4: ok. auto-import of a whole series of albums: works now, but did so several times before. Until suddenly no files were imported for no reason. I am using a new library now (20th or so one), and for now it's working. I'll let you know what happens if MC fails again.

On my last 6,000 file import, MC12 finished without hanging, with a message indicated it had imported 1 file out of 6,000...

(I have found that importing a few thousand files and then cancelling before the hang USUALLY results in a good import)

What I'm doing now, is creating a new bib everytime I want to import a file. Then MC asks me if a previous bib can be used (MC11-one). I agree, so I have my database back in a few minutes. I then start to import, and thus the new file(s) are imported. A long way to go, until the bug is fixed.

We would say library then.

What you describe is not right and it is probably not a bug.  It is probably a problem with configuration.  Check that the location where you store your library is valid and not the same as an MC11 location.  It's under tools/options/file location.

You may need to start with a completely new library if your old one is corrupt.

Jim, I don't understand what you are telling Alex...in the tools/options/file location window there are no options for the location of the imported database.

Under File/Library, you can create a new library and assign the location.

Also, in the same place, you can "clear" the library (to start over).  Use with caution.  It will destroy your existing library.

That's how I did it: creating a new library, with a new location (you have to choose a new folder anyway). But unfortunately, after putting new songs on the harddisk, MC does not find them with import (MC11 does, MC12 not - any more - did it until 0.130 cam up). So then I have to create a new library again, new location and so on. I agree that a setting can be the case (however, do settings change after an update?). Can I try or look into something else (or is there a default always working setting)?
