Girder - how do I get info on what's playing?
« on: February 19, 2007, 05:45:55 pm »

Which MCC_ command should I use to get info on what's playing now (Title, Artist, Album and other MC library tags)?
Thanks!

I don't think you can do it this way. What you can do, is to use DVDSpy under Girder. But I'm not sure if that works with all zones. If you need info from more than the currently playing zone, you will have to download MCIO (myHTPC plugin for JRiver Media Center 9 and 9.1), which should do what you need. I used that before I started running everything from NetRemote. I think there is a tutorial in how to use it somewhere on the Promixis forum.

Thanks!
This is weird.. Why it has to be so complicated..
I remember DVDSpy. If it still works with MC12 then it should work for me. Thanks for reminding!
Never heard of MCIO. (myHTPC = Meedio = Kaput?)
If you, Mastiff, run everything from NR, do you use NR for this? I didn't try this myself, but I thought NR should pass stuff to Girder? (it's easy to get all that info into NR).
I use (well, trying to) NR myself. Didn't have a chance to look into G4/NR2 interaction.

No, NetRemote connects directly to MC and can get all info from the playing now, and the library, like covers and all custom and standard fields. If you just want to se what's playing, then NR is the best bet. If you're gonna take it into a more complex script and do stuff with it, you will need Girder.
