Some songs sometimes gets imported with name tag containing both artist and track # as well. I discover about once a week one file in an entire album like this. Rest of the tags on the file is correct, even the "Artist" and "Track #" tag. I currently have about 218 (out of 22k) tracks of this kind in my library.

Anyone else this has been happening to?

It's likely that this is what's in the tags.  How were they tagged?

You could probably do this if you used Library Tools/Fill properties from filename and didn't do it correctly.  That may be the source of the problem.

I am not entirely sure, but i do belive some tracks where tagged with a previous tagging software i used prior to MC. Ill try to investigate some more...

If the files are named correctly, you can use MC's Library Tools to do Fill properties from file name.  Try a few before you do very many.

anyone know how to make a rule which correctly fills properties when the filename looks, for example, like this:

\\Nas-01-37-9a\media\Music\Assorted\25 Years Celebration Cd1\Bob & Marcia - Young Gifted & Black\00?  or like this?

\\Nas-1-37-9a\media\Music\Ralph McTell\A Collection Of His Love Songs\Ralph McTell - Promises.wav

Sure.

In "Directories" put in:

\\Nas-1-37-9a\media\Music\[Artist]\[Album]

And under "Filename" put in:

[Ignore] - [Name]

The "Ignore" above is only needed since the artist name was already picked up in the "Directories" section.

I prefer [] - [name] as it's quicker to type.

I like \\Nas-1-37-9a\media\Music\[Album Artist]\[Album]

And under "Filename" put in:

[Artist] - [Name]

I'm still finding it difficult to follow/understand the filename and directory conventions in the library tools section of the Help Contents.  If anyone's got a couple of examples which show the logic I'd much appreciate it.

At some point I used MC to 're-file' my library and now when using e.g.Squeezebox or I - tunes, or Windows, all fields appear in the 'name' column as one long filename.  Have I mis-tagged properties?  Or does this problem arise because of choosing WAV files?   I'd like to correct the file structure so that the music fields are read correctly.

Tx.
