If so, will there be some docs soon?  Thanks.

It's been mentioned elsewhere.  The answer's yes.

The documentation's sorta when they get around to it.

I search 2 days and can't find information how create Theater View plug-ins.
Our firms developed Home Automation system and we select front-end now.
If we can create plugin, like Weather or RSS, then we use JRiver MC.
Please tell me Where i find documentation described Theater View plug-ins.

Any update from someone at J River?  I have some ideas for this.  For example, I would consider "porting" the Netflix management plugin I wrote for Beyond Media if it were possible...

We haven't released the SDK yet because we're still revising the interfaces, and each time they change, plugins need a recompile.

We don't want to frustrate developers.

Would it be better to release the docs in spite of the interface tweaks?  If so, we could arrange that.

I wouldn't mind having to make small changes and recompiling often.  However, if you anticipate serious fundamental changes that will require a major rewrite of existing plugins I guess I would hold off.  Thanks.

I still have some (waning) interest in this.  Will this ever happen?

Nearly two years and counting  ;D

Seriously though, will this ever happen? I'm still really interested in developing for Theater View if possible do address the things that could perhaps be satisfied easily thru thrid party plugins. CD ripping and localised RSS feeds spring to mind for starters...

Yup yup, I reckon this would propel MC into the intrest of major players - e.g. my ASUS Xonar Soundcard comes with plugins for VMC - why not MC13?

This is great! I assume it's specifically designed for the bigscreen? If so, I find it curious that it doesn't support standard arrow key navigation - ie, remote control arrows+Enter keys. It seems to be totally reliant on a mouse. Anyway, it's still great... while we wait ;) ....

good luck! It's been over 2 years since Matt asked if it was worth releasing some doco. I've stopped waiting on this. Real shame tho coz I'm sure there's a lot of people who could add some really useful features to Theater View thru plugins and lift the app's profile and appeal in the process.

Yeah it would be nice if they could do something like this: http://developer.boxee.tv/

In fact, except for speed and view customizbility, they could take a lot of usability from their 10' interface.

Yup, I think the level of developer frustration at not being able to do ANYTHING probably outweighs the frustration of a moving target right now.

As I've said, I think an SDK for Theater View is definitely something that is required for MC to really experience a higher up-take (just IMHO of course)

Give us something to work with pleeease!?

Legal: The provisioning of an SDK for Theater View by JRiver (MN) (C) (TM) (etc) does not inherently warrant the successful development or distribution of any form of plugin, worthwhile or otherwise by Confishy(Try hard) (wannabe). ;)

since i read jims message about where thv is heading, i doubt if releasing the sdk fits the plans. its going to be an advanced consumers device interface, not for our crapy htpc's with plugins that will depend on what ever kind of .net version.

I don't think that's quite right.  I think you're building a prototype for the mainstream customer of a decade in the future.

Our job is to make it easier for everyone.  And to make little money in the process.

awww ha.... so this is why replies have been low...  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=55597.0

would of been nice to get a courtesy reply to let me know nothing i wrote was possible yet, or if ever will be. guess that explains also why there is no theaterview thread?

and after spending hours tonight again searching this forum. is it safe to say there is no theaterview view skinning tutorial either?  i'd love to make my buttons move on my home screen of theaterview where i want them.. i was thinking a rainbow effect, bouncing or fading  in and out  via making .swf's. = animated homescreens SWEET!

Being I'm now subscribed to this post.. Is it safe to say updates will be made here when things are changed or available?

Anywho. glad i found this thread, i'll just sit, watch and hope... now i can tackle my other projects. :)
