UPnP Server and Firewall issues
« on: May 26, 2007, 12:12:31 am »

I am trying to get the UPnP Server to work.  Actually it works great when I turn my PC-cillin Internet Security Firewall off completely.  My question is...does anyone know how I need to configure my firewall so that it lets the UPnP feature work without turning the firewall completely off?

Thanks for any help!

I believe the ports are listed in the wiki (just above).

Edit.  I found this with a search for UPnP and port:
Quote
The UPnP Server attempts to use port 2869 as a default

Also check the UPnP options you have set.

Thanks, I tried allowing In and Out traffic on that port....no luck.  I don't know what I am doing wrong.

You will have to allow the multicast (UDP) traffic through as well - this is how devices and servers find each other.
I don't have the port number handy, but check your logs for a UDP port.

Where do I find these logs?  Is the multicast port different than the 2869 port JimH referenced above?

Thanks

Yes, it's different. It's port 1900, multicasting to IP 239.255.255.250.
