What happened to the ripping options?
« on: May 27, 2007, 02:46:23 pm »

Just went to rip a new CD with .240 and got an unpleasant surprise.  The folder and filename options have lost the ability to choose fields.  The filename rules seem to have been reset to defaults and there is no longer the option to choose fields from a list, you have to figure out what they are and manually type them in.  It also appears that my 'custom' entries are no longer remembered.  Was this on purpose?  My filenames vary based on type of CD.  For single artist sets I use [Track #] [Name], for multi artist discs I use [Track #] [Name] ~ [Artist].  It used to be easy to just switch between them from the drop-down, looks like now I will have to manually edit the entry each time - and if I have a typo (like [Artsit]) then my filenames will be wrong.

You are correct. I just compared the MC11.1 and MC12 options. In MC11.1 it is possible to select items from a list that shows all available library fields and it saved the recently used rules as presets.

I hope this is a bug and JRiver fixes it quickly. (I can't see any reason for a change like this.)

Also, it would be good to change the default folder rule to Album Artist (auto)\Album. This would automatically rip all "multiple artists" albums to the correct album folders.
