looking for upnp update
« on: July 01, 2007, 07:01:42 am »

I see that MC12 has a upnp server included which I'm eager to try out. I currently have a upnp hardware client (Dlink media lounge 520 and Nokia 770 (more of a software client on a handheld)) and have tried multiple upnp servers - I'm currently using TVersity. I'm adding a htpc soon and was wondering about plans of MC12 including a upnp client? I found the option under File -> Library -> Search For Library Servers thinking this may be it, but it responds with "Failed to find local media server" and then "Error Loading Library - Media Center failed to load the library 'Search for Library Servers' and will attempt to load the previously selected library". I currently have the trial version installed - MC 12.0.267 , any clue on the error being shown? It looks like this may be only looking for other MC12 library servers, and if this is the case, can MC12 be used as a upnp client when used with another pc running MC12 as a upnp server?
Any help would be appreciated, the only upnp software client i've been able to get to work successfully is Nero 7 (mediahome) which is running painfully slow and I'm ready to ditch.

Hi Pshark,

First: Library Server is not UPnP based, it's an in-house protocol used only to share libraries between 2 media centers.

We support a UPnP Media Server device, it's in the tree under Services & Plug-ins. It should work with the Dlink 520, I'm not sure about the 770.
We do not have a UPnP renderer (client).
