I'm seeing a very high occurrence of errors on podcast downloads with 12.0.318.  The download manager (which I love, by the way!) shows the download as complete, but then the file shows up as missing when I look at it in the sync list for my iPod.  I'm guessing that the downloads go to a temp area and are then copied to the appropriate folders, so it looks like there is some sort of problem with the copy function.  From what I can tell, it happens both with individual downloads and with multiple simultaneous downloads.  I thought that maybe it was a problem of timing where two or more downloads were finishing at or about the same time, but I've seen the problem occur with single files, too.  I'll keep an eye on this and see if I can help give you a better test cast to reproduce, but I wanted to give you something to look at for starters.

Oh... and while I have you attention... the download manager ignores the setting for number of concurrent downloads.  It downloads 3 at a time, even if you have the download number set higher than 3.  Not a big deal, but it does sort of render the setting in the preferences as moot.

Both problems persist with 12.0.329.  The download manager only downloaded 3 files at a time and 2 of my 5 downloads came through as File Missing.  The files show up as having downloaded in the download manager and the Downloaded Podcasts smartlist.  If I check the filesystem, the files have downloaded and they are in the proper folders.  When I check the sync list for the iPod, however, the files show up as File Missing.  If I shut down MC and restart it, the files sync properly.

Things work a lot better for Tim than they do for me.     

With 12.318 I get no downloads at all.  In fact Media Center can't even read the feed correctly.  At the top of the Podcast window for each feed I see "Waiting to load: <url>".

I turned on Podcast logging and here is all I get:

Tonight I had 4 of 5 files show up as "File Missing" even though the files were on the file system.  Rather than shutting down, I clicked "recheck sync" and the files were properly detected.

Just thought you'd like to know.

FYI - I've been having this problem too (posted in one of the release threads).  Definitely still had it with 332.  Just about to install 338, so don't know about it yet.

File usually disappears at this point, but (this may be a 338 change) the current example is sitting out there in the base directory as a 0kb file.

The only fix I have found is to manually download the file, place it in the correct directory, then change the 'filename' to point to the file.

What I'm seeing is that the files download to the temp location (%BASEDIR%\D:\Episode27907871.mp3), but they aren't always copied to the correct folder during the tagging phase.  The files always disappear from the temp location, but sometimes they don't make it to "c:\my documents\my music\podcasts\my favorite podcast\".  I end up deleting the podcast and re-initiating the download.  That nearly always works.

Tried that when the problem first surfaced.  That workaround has been hit or miss for me.

FWIW, I have been experiencing this problem as well. Although this only happens to me a fwe times a week, out of maybe 50 podcasts/week being downloaded.

I run Media Center constantly as a server. Often when I check in on it, I will be greeted with a several tagging error dialogs relating to files names something like "Episode27907871.mp3".

Now that I know others are having the problem as well, I'll pay more attention to some of the specifics of when it occurs, etc.

This problem seemed to disappear for a while, but it's been back in force in the last few builds.  It's definitely an issue with 12.0.375.

I hate to say it but I'm seeing this again too in the last couple builds I have tried, 375 the latest. The feed I'm seeing it consistently is http://feeds.feedburner.com/scottsigler. What happens is the first time I try downloading an episode, I get the error about not being able to tag it. Usually the weird MP3 name is in the root of the podcast folder but it eventually gets deleted by MC, unlike it being kept there in the past when the error occurred. MC though thinks the file is in the podcast's folder even though it isn't there. I have to do a delete and then do another download and the second time it will work.
