each sync create duplicates files on target device
« on: November 02, 2007, 06:30:14 am »

I've been running into a strange problem:

Some of my audio files are duplicated on my external device on each sync, named at each pass as <file>(1).mp3 then  <file>(2).mp3 ... <file>(n).mp3

Investigating further on this issue, I've been able to reproduce this locally by creating a "virtual sync device" mapped to a local directory and a playlist in "sync list" reduced to a single file. Heres the steps:

  • on the "details window" file status is "in queue"
  • I push the "sync now" button
  • File appears now as "on device"
  • I push the "recheck sync" button
  • file is again flagged out of sync ("in queue")
  • again and again and again ...

Note this this happens only on specific files...

(using MC version 12.0.358)

What kind of device is it?

The bug originally appeared with my Archos PMP connected in UMS (usb drive) mode.

But I've been able to reproduce it using a dedicated empty folder on my local PC hard drive (tools->options->handheld->add device->browse). So, I'm not quite sure that the target device is really relevant.

What's different about the files?  Read only files or directory?

I'm desperately searching something abnormal on those files, nothing found for the moment.

I've the problem on a complete podcast archive directory, have been able to reproduced it by importing the folder into a newly created empty MC library, duplicates appears  systematically, look the following screenshot:

For the moment, I've noticed this only with podcasts as far as I remember...

We'll get a fix out for this today. You'll have to delete the podcast files from the device in order to clear up the problem entirely.
