Slow sync with Creative Zen Xtra
« on: December 21, 2007, 12:58:20 am »

Sync is very very slow for me. Each song takes almost 1 minute. First each file has status uploading for 30-45 seconds before actually starting to upload which takes 10-20 seconds.

I can see that there is a newer firmware for the player, but this will format the player, so I am curious as to whether this will increase the sync speed, or if there is something else I should look into?

Is this new behavior?  What format are your files in?  Are they being re-encoded for transfer to the device?  Is the device usb 2?  What software are you running MJ8 or MJ12?  Try the latest.

You could also check this ....

This is a hotfix for WMF 9.5 SDK.   If you already have WMF 11.0 SDK, then this isn't the problem.

I just recently retried the program, so it is my first time using MJ12.
Zen Xtra is USB2 yes.
All files are MP3, no reencoding to player.
There's enormous transfer speed differences between Creative MediaSource and MJ12, so my Zen has the ability to transfer files fast, just unfortunately not with MJ12 so far.

Well I installed a new firmware which formatted my Zen, and now I am re-synching. It's must faster now, so I guess it just needed some new firmware.
